For future reference, industrial vinegar is great for removing rust. Spray on repeatedly, or soak if you can before you pressure wash. They sell it in gallon bottles at Ace. Small parts, nuts and bolts, you soak. They come out like new. Also, it gets in those areas where it's pitted.

You guys are great! Nice to see you guys involved with something productive and not sitting around drinking or something. You are both really good at the videos and explaining what you are doing step by step. I sit for hours watching your projects. You do stuff correctly where others in the case of this jeep would have just pulled the frame back and call it good. Keep going, I am a fan!

Since you guys already have the axle out you should brace the rear trackbar bracket. Factory metal is pretty thin and that raised bracket that came with the lift kit increases leverage. Pretty easy to do with some scrap steel but way easier with the axle out from under the Jeep.

Don't know if it's already been mentioned but you guys need a needle scaler for removing that chunky rust. They really work great and get in those hard to reach areas too. Bought mine at harbor freight, the cheaper $30 one. I've used it a lot and so far no problems.

I like your videos. You should set up a small shed for sandblasting. It would be leave a way better finish for painting and be less time consuming. Entry level equipment is relatively cheap.

Another great video. I like the hats I may have to go get some from your website
@killahjeep6 жыл бұрын
should have spent the money and got a gallon of POR15.... stuff works awesome... its a marine grade paint, and you can get it glossy, or semi gloss, stuff holds up really well, and has a zinc compound in it (rust preventative).
@goonzquad6 жыл бұрын
killahjeep Dang that sounds like some awesome stuff. I will definitely look into that! Thanks for the info!

Make sure when you order the diff covers they are for the Dana 44s front and rear the teraflex ones you showed looked like there was one for a 44 and one for a Dana 30
@goonzquad6 жыл бұрын
Cameron Brands Yea I made sure. I had to message them and specify that. It was $10 more for the Dana 44 covers.

Yes I agree 100% a sandblaster is a lot faster and gives better results
@jahns15866 жыл бұрын
Just to let you guys know!! I saw you looking at the differential covers on eBay. The rubicon has Dana 44 front and rear so the one you looked at won't work, as one of the covers was for a Dana 30

I noticed a a bad ass f250 will you be doing a video on that build ?
@UncleSam0776 жыл бұрын
Check out POR-15 for what is arguably the best pain-over-rust enamel that you can get. Its brush on too and has a high gloss finish. Not UV resistant though, so it will fade in areas of direct and exposed sunlight.
@goonzquad6 жыл бұрын
Samuel Ross Thanks for the suggestion, I’m gonna look into that.

Jason Moyle Somewhat self taught, but mostly research and previous experiences.
@Twizter686 жыл бұрын
So far good job! I've gotta ask though...why not get the "new" frame powder coated? That will provide more protection and last a LOT longer than rattlecan rust buster paint.
@goonzquad6 жыл бұрын
William Mims Thanks. Yea powder coat is the best way to go, however since we try to stay on a slight budget to leave room for profit in the end, we will go with the next best option. It will still last a good bit in the south.
