It had many different houses of Dragonlords, but one of the Targaryen women had a dream about the destruction of Valyria and convinced her family to leave, so they did and they moved to the island of dragonstone. 5:58 it hasnt really expressed this in the series but in the books the hound is kind of obsessed with Sansa. So, you might think that he stopped her because he's kings guard now but I think it's because he knew they'd torture Sansa to death for that and put her head up there too.
@MichaelPower2122 жыл бұрын
My take is that Sansa would not have been tortured for pushing Joffery from the bridge. I say this because there was a moment when she looked at the fall as if she was considering suicide followed by a thought to take Joffery with her when she stepped toward him . I don't think The Hound is a member of the King's Guard. He does not wear a white cloak or is a knight addressed as ser. Instead, my sense is that he is Joffery's personal body guard.
@MrFarnanonical2 жыл бұрын
@@MichaelPower212 no he literally is kings guard. It goes over this in depth in the first book, about how hes the first kings guard who isnt a knight. They try to knight him but he refuses. When I look at reaction videos, the one scene I ALWAYS take a look at is how people react to the scene where Dany and Mirri talk. It, along with the scene with Jon and Master Aemon, is perhaps one of the most important scenes of the entire show. These two scenes are absolutely amazing not because of what these two scenes do or do not foreshadow, but because they show us the clashing of perspectives in its rawest form. Writing scenes where good and evil are in conflict is easy, but writing scenes where two different visions of what it means to be good come in conflict with each other is incredibly hard. This is why Game of Thrones is a show unlike any other.

Ned naively warning Cersei and his reluctance for bloodshed had less to do with Ned being a honorable fool(which he was, but still) and more to do with the fact that Ned did not want a repeat of what happened to the Targaryen Crown Prince's two little children, who were dragged out of their bed and murdered in cold blood after King Robert won the Rebellion. Even though Ned had no part in those murders, he felt complicit because he was with the winning side and it kept haunting him for the rest of his life. Ned's POVs in the first book ponders a lot on the murdered children, whose bodies Tywin Lannister laid out in front of the Iron Throne at King Robert's feet, for public viewing, drapped in blood red Lannister banners. You've seen a version of this in the first season lore.

I don't think it's just fire that the eggs needed. Magic of some sort seems to play a big part in it as well. Only death can pay for life: the Khal, the witch, the son. 3 lives, 3 dragons. The Khal and the witch were both in the fire, and they probably would have put the son's remains in the fire as well. Also I've always assumed the infection of his cut was purposefully caused by the witch. He didn't want to be looked at but Dany begged him to let the witch 'heal' him and suddenly he's barely holding on.
@gatsby88702 жыл бұрын
Danyerus was born in one of the fiercest storms in history so she's called "Stormborn". That's my understanding. I think the dragons hatched as result of her magic, the witch, Drogo, and the fire. That's my perspective and I think others will share theirs.
@khosani17262 жыл бұрын
It's not explained concretely, but I think it's basically blood magic where only life can pay for life. Drogo, the witch, and the baby died and 3 dragons were given life in return. Dani even knew this when she said, "it's not your screams I want, but your life." Or, and I like this idea better. Viserys's death was for one of the dragons instead of Miri. That way, they are all named after who gave them life. Drogo = Drogon, Rhaegar = Rhaegal, and Viserys = Viserion

About the baby dragons: just know that we enter GOT when the magical and mystical are coming back into the Known World. We started with a nightwalker, not seen for thousands of years beyond the Wall, saw a dead mother direwolf which had come all the way south to very near Winterfell to produce six pups, two female and four male, to match the Stark children precisely. We also saw a wight attack Jon Snow and Lord Commander Mormont at Castle Black. The season ended with the birth of dragons. We are in for interesting and fantastical times in the Known World. @sam_c952 жыл бұрын
This is a popular view and certainly has merit to it, especially in the show. But my opinion is that Mirri was genuinely trying to help Drogo - the treatments she uses are described in the books and they are pretty legit and similar to anything Westerosi maesters may try (boiling wine, sewing it up, then a bandage and ointment). In the books it's said that Drogo found Mirri's treatment irritating so he pulled it off and rubbed mud in the wound because he found it more soothing. To me this sounds very much like a natural infection, and self-inflicted too, but it can't be confirmed either way.

I'm really glad you were able to realise that Mirri had good reason to not want to see "The Stallion Who Mounts The World" come to be, given the horrible things done to her village and people, and that she didn't owe Dany anything for "saving her", when Dany's people were the ones inflicting violence upon Mirri's people. One can certainly argue that killing a child before they have ever done anything wrong is deeply horrible too, it is. It's almost like that question, "would you kill baby Hitler?". When Dany says, "it is not your screams I want, only your life.", in the books she adds, "I remember what you told me. Only death can pay for life.” (which we also see Mirri tell Dany in the show). She also thinks "She had sensed the truth of it long ago (...) But the brazier had not been hot enough " (Remember how Dany put the eggs in the fire, and was unharmed when she touched it. Some instinct or intuition seems to have made Dany connect heat with hatching the eggs. And now with the lesson taught to her so harshly by Mirri, she has a second piece - blood sacrifice. Remember the Targaryen words, "Fire and Blood". And just because this is pretty badass, Dany thinks: "The godswife thought her a child, but children grow, and children learn."

Yes, Dany went into the pyre knowing that the fire would make the dragon eggs hatch (in addition to blood magic), and it was the witch who clued her into this. "Only Death can pay for life" It's true in this show (and has already been shown to be true, like when Sansa's direwolf Lady was killed, and at the same moment, Bran returns from the point of death after falling from the window). Don't forget that phrase since it will come into play again several times before this show is over. There had already been two sacrifices of life - Drogo and her son - so she (Dany) only needed one more sacrifice to have three deaths for the three lives of the dragons, and the witch was the third.

9:26 it never really goes into Tywins backstory in the series but the reason he's disappointed in Tyrion is because Tywin is "The man who does not smile". Tywins father was a very weak ruler who let his vassals walk all over him. It made Tywin resentful because even his vassals openly mocked his father, who was the lord of the westerlands. Eventually Tywin wiped out the second most powerful house in the westerlands. The Rains of Castamere. Destroying them utterly, nobody dared cross him after that. He turned his house from a laughing stock to the most powerful house in Westeros. What does that have to do with Tyrion? Tywin won't abide any perceived slight to his family. So Tywin hates Tyrion because hes a dwarf, and he also hates Tyrion because of his drunken whore mongering. Tyrions existence is a a stain on his family name and legacy. Oh and also because Tywins wife died giving birth to Tyrion. Tywin actually loved her a lot. Tywin is a very interesting character, hes based on one of my favorite medieval Kings. King Edward "longshanks". Who was also absolutely ruthless but also an incredibly capable ruler.

The witch had very good points. Drogo and his khalasar were slavers, rapists and murderers who were looking for easy prey. They did ruin her life already, why was she supposed to help them? Should Drogo be nursed back to health, so that he could lead his army to do all this over and over? If anything, she was extremely brave, since a painful death was all she could have expected. Perhaps the child was a bit of an overkill, but considering who he was said to become, it's kind of understandable.

S1E6 : "You smooth talking liar. This is going to be an abusive relationship" about Joffrey and Sansa. Haha you got the abusive part right. You don't need to do smooth talking when you're the king 🙂 S1E9 : "Khal drogo dying from a little cut that got infected. Is this really happening. Is it really happening. I refuse to believe it. No no drogo is not dying." Dies from an infected cut 🙃

I think the dragons were born because the witch was burned in that fire.

I’ve always thought that the question of whether Jorah is “in love with” Daenerys is best thought of as a matter of percentages. I’d say that in this episode, it’s about 70% admiration for her as a good person, and 30% love and sexual attraction to her. After the dragons are born, there’s probably 10 or so percent religious awe in there too.
