The variation of this song that played at the end of the episode gave me goosebumps. The way it starts as a jack-in-the-box esque jingle before growing into this grand piece that conveyed the hopelessness of the main character's situation as everyone treats it as normal really sold it for me.

I felt so sorry for Pomni there Suddenly pops up in a place with strange beings, it's immediately told that she cannot and will _not_ leave, doesn't recall her real name, has to face an Abstract, the only "exit" she finds is an almost endless backrooms looking maze that leads into the void and realizes that this is not a dream and she's stuck there for who knows how many time. Her hopelessness is almost tangible, with the song basically mocking her situation, sounding all mighty and majestic like it's saying "better feel at home, because you're never leaving. Welcome!" It makes you feel hopeless with her you know? It's tragic that she's losing it and everyone takes it as normal. I think i see why people loved this

Jax is an asshole a lot of the time cause he doesn’t really care anymore and knows that what he does doesn’t really hurt anyone too severely cause they don’t really deal with pain as seen from Ragetha just pulling a cleaver out of her head. And Zooble just ran out of fucks to give in the first place and doesn’t give a shit anymore.

Makes sense, after seeing the pilot now. They said that Caine does these "adventures" to prevent everyone from going insane, basically putting a "cheerful" coating over a tragedy. And this song it's literally that. In the brink of breaking down, but still keeps rocking with a smile. After all there is a not so gleeful fate in store for those who lose their minds. It's like the song is saying: "I know you're confused and scared, but i promise that you will have a great time here! I promise! Please stop crying..." You can also see that in Pomni in the screen. As the song keeps going, she progressively loses it, ending up in fetal position in the end of the song. While the song tries it's best to sound gleeful and happy going.

Y'know before the pilot we only ever knew Caine and Pomni, this show could have been anything! Knowing Gooseworx, I thought that it'd be a collection of *circus* bits involving Pomni being put into various predicaments all broadcast on the TVs around the same city Elaine and The Ghost Awards took place and whatnot... like a replacement for the Darly Boxman Show! I'm happy that it still falls under Gooseworx' iconic way of storytelling. Character we were all teased about for months on end, unable to know who is who and what they do. Or even the overall plot! So now that we're 4 episodes deep, I sure am excited to see what happens next, because for all we know? It could be someplace totally new, or all hell breaks loose.

This show really does capture an old school sense of whimsy with still some darker and foreboding undertones. If I had one criticism, i do feel maybe they played their full decks a little too soon, introducing the horror aspects earlier. But that’s just me, perhaps this serious will surprise me yet.

I was around in the earlier times of the internet and it wasn’t really like that for me. It was silly and fun but in the early 2000s most kids had a friend group that they would regularly see IRL. The internet actually wasn’t that big and it was possible to get bored. Real life was still more interesting unless you were addicted to a game like WoW or CoD or something. Smartphones didn’t exist and WiFi wasn’t everywhere so the internet didn’t follow you around outside the house. Social media was used to coordinate with people who you saw in real life and meeting strangers was out of the question. Also nobody had photos of themselves online. Even back then we knew they could be used for bad purposes. You’d only have a few MySpace photos at most. It wasn’t until Facebook that it became normal to have a bunch of pictures of yourself online. I had a few photos of my friends cosplaying and that was it lol.

I think it's pretty obvious, but because it's composed in a certain way that makes it sound all joyful and upbeat like a "circus theme" but also giving the listener a feeling that the song is looping itself, which gives you that feeling of slowly going insane, which is the entire premise of the show.
