H8ful 8 got your back, man! I noticed a similar problem with my Hero 3 that I had several years ago. If you used the wifi to watch what your camera was recording on your phone, a battery would never last longer than 12-15 minutes. Finally tried it one day without wifi and I was shocked at how much longer the battery lasted. Good tip!

Why would they make it and more importantly how does it even search for connection if the device is OFF?!

Thanks, this just happened on my brand new Hero10. Had the camera off, came back to it after several hours and it was warm to the touch with zero power. Turned off wifi and we'll see if that has an effect. If wifi is how the auto uploads to the cloud happen, I guess you just have to be in the habit of manually turning it off and on.

Unless you need to use it with the App, turn off that wireless. You might be pulling a state record catfish and hit the record button and nothing. You don't want that.

Yes. Turn your wireless off so when you yank a possible state record bass and you push the record button it will work.

However, if for some unbelievable reason you don't watch my Harley E-Bike vids, you are missing some of the greatest entertainment on the internet. Nope I have the 9 turned off everything even turned off Wi-Fi on phone and Bluetooth then in the middle of the night look over and GoPro is on just turned off GPS and will see what happens I was going to make a moto vlog after about 1 hour battery went dead and it cut off .
