Make sure you have plenty of free hard drive space in your system. Each video will be duplicated, so 20GB of video files can quickly become 40GB.
By default, the "Tolerance for bad GPS precision" will be set to very high. This will make all the GPS data visible, even very wrong one. You can tweak this setting to try to achieve a better result. The option "none" will not modify GPS precision, but will still enable the gauges for cameras that are not yet supported in Quik (GoPro Hero 8, Hero 9, GoPro Max).
To start the process, drag and drop one or more of your original video files into the app. It will process and make a copy of each video file.
Once the files have processed, import the new copies into GoPro Quik and check out the result by enabling the "performance stickers" or "adjust gauges" option.
Some times, especially if you export multiple modified versions with different tolerance settings, Quik seems to not recognize that the video has changed. Delete the modified video or move it to a different folder,, refresh Quik source folder from the Quik settings tab, close Quik, convert the file again or place it back in Quik's media folder, open Quik and refresh the source folder again.

I just got my first GoPro, and after seeing people have GPS data on their videos for YEARS, I cannot believe that GoPro decided to stop development of their desktop app for no particular reason, if not to just force everyone to use the mobile app. Now, just to get the stickers for gauges, I have to import to my iPhone/iPad, add gauges, then export to Apple Photos and airdrop to Mac. WTF!

I was wondering why when I tried to extract GPS data from my videos from my GP9, the buttons on Quik wouldn't function. Now after watching this, buyers of the newer GP's, myself included are having the screws put to us. My GP6 works fine and provides GPS data and the newer more expensive versions don't, this stinks! It could be a bad GPS signal. Do I absolutely have to wait for gps acquisition before hitting record? Or can it get gps signal after recording and work still? Hi Lucas, The distance is calculated by the editing software, not the camera. That means you will get the same scale on all cameras, if you are using the same editing software

Yes. That's a different issue. Quik fails to recognise that you computer can play h265 videos. A workaround is to set up the camera to film in h264, but that is not possible in all resolutions and frame rates

What is the resolution of your videos? Quik cannot import 5K videos. Could that be it? Are plugging the camera or moving the files directly to the media folder of quik? You can try both

Tienes varias opciones. 1- Si tienes una Hero8, instalar en tu GoPro el firware experimental Labs community.gopro.com/t5/GoPro-Labs/ct-p/GoProLabs Y entonces activar la grabación de vídeos 3 veces más largos (12GB en lugar de 4) escaneándo este QR con la cámara gopro.github.io/labs/control/chapters/ Esto tiene inconvenientes, como que los vídeos largos no se pueden ver en la cámara ni en algunos de los programa de GoPro (no he probado a añadir los datos de GPS, pero supongo que en alguno de los programas funcionará). Otro inconveniente es que el firmware es experimental, así que puedes encontrarte alguna cosa inesperada. 2- Crear tu visualización de datos en otro programa (Virb Edit, Dashware, After Effects...) después de extraer los datos con el Telemetry Extractor. La versión de pago permite unir los datos de vídeos consecutivos y exportarlos en varios formatos (no en el mp4 original) goprotelemetryextractor.com/gopro-gps-telemetry-extract 3- Parecido a la opción anterior, utiliza la versión gratuita del Telemetry Extractor goprotelemetryextractor.com/free/ para exportar los datos a format GPX o Virb. Entonces utiliza algún software de edición de GPX para unir todos los segmentos (no recuerdo qué software exactamente lo permite, pero existen) y crear la visualización en Virb Edit o Dashware. Desafortunadamente Quik no lee los datos de archivos tan grandes. Los datos se convierten correctamente con el GPS Quick Fix, però Quik no los reconoce. Tendrías que optar por una de las otras opciones. Como los datos están correctos, puedes extraerlos del archivo de 12GB con el Telemetry Extractor y crear la visualización de datos en Virb Edit, Dashboard, etc... Seguramente lo que pasa es que en algunos vídeos la señal GPS no es suficientemente potente. Puede que los datos sean válidos o no, pero Quik decide no mostrarlos para no arriesgar. Puedes utilizar el Telemetry Extractor ( goprotelemetryextractor.com/free/ ) para visualizar los datos, y si te parecen buenos con la app GPS Quik Fix podrás engañar a Quik para que los muestre ( goprotelemetryextractor.com/gopro-gps-not-working-hero8-quik )

Hola Joel, en el vídeo uso dos apps distintas, primero el Telemetry Extractor Free para ver los datos y después el GPS Quick Fix para modificar el mp4. La segunda es de pago ya que tiene que hacer el proceso en el ordenador, no en la web

Off topic? Edit: To clarify. I'm asking why this is off topic if it is the main topic of the video. Since GoPro software is outdated you need third party tools to either convert your videos to a compatible format or to create the speedometer, map, etc in a different video editor.

Las nuevas cámaras (hero 8 y Max) graban los datos de telemetría (GPS y más) de una forma ligeramente distinta a las anteriores. Quik para Windows y Mac no se ha actualizado desde 2018, por lo tanto no entiende los datos de telemetría de las cámaras nuevas. Esta app cambia el formato de los datos de cada vídeo al formato de 2018, para que Quik lo entienda y pueda enseñar los medidores de velocidad, el recorrido GPS, etc. Si el problema es con una cámara anterior, Hero 7, 6, 5... El problema es que cuando la señal de GPS es débil, Quik prefiere no enseñar los datos GPS para evitar mostrar datos erróneos. Con la app GPS Quick Fix "amplificas" la señal de los datos para "obligar" a Quik a mostrarlos. Después tú puedes decidir si son buenos o malos e incluirlos o no en tu vídeo

Great video! Thanks for the insight. Just bought a new Hero 8. What a disappointment that quick cannot read the GPS information. You spend several hundred dollars on a camera, its advertised to provide certain features, yet the company app cant handle it. Crazy. Have you offered to fix the quick app for Gopro since they cant seem to handle it? I guess I'll buy your program. Please provide a discount code. Thanks!
