GoPro Hero 12 REVIEW - Should you UPGRADE from Hero 11? Max Lens Mod 2.0 Sample Footage too!

If you currently own a Hero 11, you may be considering an upgrade to the Hero 12. It is the exact same camera with a few software tweaks that could easily have been added to the Hero 11 with a firmware upgrade. That being said, it does offer a few enhancements, especially with the Max Lens Mod 2.0 that may be worth it to some
However, if you do own a Hero 11, I would highly recommend picking up the Volta battery tripod. It's a game changer!

Good video. Having just got a hero 11 and seeing the results from various reviews it seems like they pooched this release. I don’t recall you mentioning the lack of GPS on the hero 12 which seems to be the most mind bending change for most reviews.

Yeah, the GPS removal is just weird. I sent my GP12 back today so back to the GP11 full time for me. Which is still great!

Excellent review 👍 Any number of the points you’ve raised are enough to show why this is such a disappointing release. I’ve already got my return shipping label to send mine back and unless GoPro come out with something that’s game changing next time, I won’t be buying the next one. Saying that, I’m having a lot of fun with the new iPhone and while it’s definitely no completion for a Hero as far action stuff is concerned. It’s definitely got the potential to be my vlogging camera and it’s always with me. Again, excellent real world review. Cheers, Dave.

I figured you'd end up sending yours back as well 🤣. Just not enough innovation from GoPro recently. I had a pre-order for the 15 Pro Max but canceled it when I saw all these reports of easily cracked rear screens. I put my phone in the rear pocket so that's a big issue for me. There's absolutely nothing wrong with my 14 Pro Max so I'll keep rocking that for at least another year.

Action cams are an every two/three upgrade for me. Not a lot changes from one year to the next. Unless of course you go from one brand to another

I'm thinking that's a more sensible approach. I was really excited for the Max Lens Mod 2.0 and was disappointed by how distorted it was. Oh well, will have to wait until next year!

@11:50 can you still use the quik app when the Volta is paired? I got a remote control and while it’s connected I can’t use the quik app unless I manually pair back to the app.

Unfortunately, GoPro only allows one connection that can control the camera at any given time. So you can only choose the Remote, Volta, or Quik App one at a time.

@@RandumbTech seems like that’s something they could have addressed in the GP12 “sidegrade”. That’s an annoying “feature”.

So I've heard. I can't seem to find one anywhere!! Amazon has them, but strangely they are not being offered with Prime which is weird. I'm going to keep using my Hero 11 for another year. Are you currently using an Action 4?

@@RandumbTech No I don't have budget to get action camera, I might buy in future. I have watched a lot of action 4 vs gopro 12 reviews, action 4 is way better. This Gopro has some issues but yeah if you have hero 11 then you don't need to switch to any.
