GoPro Hero 7 Black Best Audio Settings VS Windslayer

The GoPro Hero 7 Black is already pretty well equipped to compensate for wind noise, but I wanted to compare how audio would sound when recorded utilizing just those different built in settings, vs with a wind screen or wind slayer utilizing those same settings.
I run through some high wind tests with each setting, with and without the windscreen, while I also do some tests with the same settings in a lower wind environment.

Very informative. I've search so many solution for the gopro 7 microphone which is expensive and make it's look giant action camera with extra case and wire. Now i know that i just need a windproof cover foam to get better quality sound! Thank you for the usefull vid.

Nice video man! The way I understand that forst section you were not speaking in the same environment as the gopro, so it is very tough for it. If your head was out the window you get a sense of how loud you need to talk to overcome the natural wind and i bet it would have sounded ok/good considering that difficult environemt. Great video again, a lot of useful stuff in there!

i was going to do a windshield cover with a small cut in the cover so i can still feed the external power bank into it but make the hole small enough so that dust and junk cant get into the ports and mabey stop rain too?? id be useing it out on my motorbike around town and a few highway trips

You have to have it in Pro Tune to be able to customize your audio settings. If you have it in Full Auto, with Pro Tune turned off, you don't have the option to change any of the audio settings.

I recommend using some kind of grip like I use in the video, but I've also held it by the wind screen and as long as I don't touch right over where the mics are, it doesn't pick up any handling noise. Good question.

i just got a hero 7 black, i use it on my side by side going from slow speeds to 50-60 kmh usually. the audio from it is basically completely unusable. ordered one of those wind screens and after seeing this im pretty confident it will fix my problems.

The problem of this wind screen is the open back. I'm lucky to have the GoPro 3. The wins screen totally covers the back.

I'm an audio engineer. Your test is flawed on a number of levels, not least of which is that you tested first with more wind than most people would reasonably encounter, then again with virtually no wind whatsoever. Neither of these is helpful to see how a windslayer will work in real world situations. It's like testing a set of winter tires by driving on black ice at 200 miles per hour, then testing on bare warm pavement at 12 miles per hour.
