My hubby bought me the Hero 7 over a year ago, so I could start recording and tracking my big mountaineering summits, but I was hating this little camera because I didn't know how to use it. I am fairly savvy when it comes to most things audio.(multi-track recording, effects, hardware, software, mixing, mastering etc) However I've NEVER done anything with video short of a camera phone or camcorder back in the day. About to start a youtube channel and moving into all things video(recording, editing etc) Just got my gopro 7 black yesterday. Plus I recently bought the Vegas Pro 16 video editing suite. Whew Here goes the learning curve all over again. I can remember learning to use popular DAW's (digital audio workstation) and all things audio some 20+ years ago. Your video is EXCELLENT. Open up your editor. Turn on GoPro. Plug in USB from GoPro to computer. The editor should find the camera and ask to import footage. You will NOT see the camera or storage in your file explorer or finder. The GoPro is seen as a media device not a storage device. I have been meaning to make a video about this. Some 3rd party android/camera file managers can mess that up, so make sure those apps are not running.

Maybe they should allow users to have quick set. And what I meant by that, is you set your preference for what ever your doing and name it then save. Then when ever you want all those setting, all you'd have to do is click the name in the quick set menu. May not have explained it well, but I think you get the idea.

well i understood what you are saying, as a software developer i can say its doable, its saving a profile/settings, and it would be great, but the problem is, and most of the times is, that you have to put the option to choose between somewhere, but screen is just too small, it is already too congested

but it would be great to have something like this, let see if they choose to put thing feature in gopro future version, and i am more curious of where they would put those settings, because that kind of thing is suppose to be a quick access, you dont have to go to menu then go to settings then select the profile, and then navigate back to recording,

it's called "Program Recipes Menu". Great idea! Have an option for voice activation of a particular recipe.

Regarding the quick capture feature, I believe that after you enable it, when your camera is switched off and you see something that you want to record, you don't need to press the switch on button, you press record and it switches the camera automatically on and starts recording.

"Higher Bit rate = higher quality videos and larger size AND with protune on it increases bitrate by default." 5:41 bitrate is fantastic info. Thanks for that nugget!! Great video. Personally, I always keep low light off. I always keep sharpness in med, and color is always flat. I recommend always color grade. You get much more power over your video colors in post. I never take ISO over 400 and I keep raw sounds off because I find it sounds best with it off.

thanks, Mr. Cruzer! just picked up one of these used and am enjoying it so far. Have yet to use voice commands "in the wild" ...but excited by the hands-free prospects. And absolutely funny (I imagine someone else has already noted this)...with voice activation on for my camera while I watched this video...YOUR voice kept messing with MY camera too. I"ll remember that next time I see someone else with a gopro on themselves : )

4:55 isn't a bug. You were previously in Linear view however, after you changed over to 4K and went back into menu it automatically put you in Wide view. SuperView and Linear is not an available option for HyperSmooth Stabilization when you shoot in 4K 60FPS hence why it said Stabilization Not Supported. Hope this helps out a few people, it took me a few tests to notice as well! Thanks for the video!

Don't know if it's been said. Quick capture is when gropro is off. You can just press the shutter button to start recording instead of having to turn the gropro on with the power button first. Another press of the shutter button will stop recording and turn the gropro off.

Netcruzer RC TECH CARS if you dont get the vertical angle of the camera right when recording you are able to change the angle of the footage afterwards (from 4:3 to 16:9) I think thats only reason to record at 4:3. Correct me if Im wrong.

Hey, great video. Just for your information, the little Rabit blue button you were not sure why it was not working. That button is for the quick power up thing. If it's on, you can just press the record button when the camera is off and it will turn on and start recording, if you long press it will start a Time lapse and when you are done recording press it again and it will turn off. Hope it helps.

I drilled out the GoPro Case to expose the internal microphones -- plus I created my own windscreen with a piece of foam .. make a huge difference in the sound quality ..

I haven’t looked at the comments so someone has probably already answered this but the quick capture only turns the camera on when you press it and the camera is off. Pressing again ends the video and turns it back off. It’s just a quick way to get the camera up and running from the off state.

Very good for 225. If buying extra batteries get the blue tipped ones for GoPro8. They work much better and have higher discharge C rating which might be why the 7 crashes sometimes and the 8 doesn’t.

Great informative video and nice summary at the end. I took mine to Greeceon holiday last week and had chance to set many things up along with taking super smooth vids. A big big gothcha is the awful connectivity process when using the GoPro App to connect and download videos to your smartphone / tablet. Basically the GoPro just keeps dropping out and losing comms with the phone. The fix for this is simple but not intuitive. You have to go into the phone wifi settings when the GoPro is connected and MANUALLY type in the GoPros wifi password ( which can be found in the info section in connections on the gopro ) On initial setup the GoPro does this automatically and uses the bluetooth to keep alive a connection but the password is not hardcoded in and therefore keeps jumping out of connectivity. Once you manually input the password - connection is stable and lasting. That took me two days to figure out sat by the pool !!
