Sent gopro my broken hero 2 for their trade up program and pre-ordered my hero 7 for $299! I paid $399 for my hero 6! No brainer! So glad I was still within my return policy on my hero 6!

I'm still using a Hero 4 for 4K30. Some of the shots you can tell there is a significant difference between even the 6 and 7 video. I'll give it a few months and see if it comes down in price but I'd definitely consider upgrading soon.

Wow thanks, I have been searching everywhere for footage where it is secured to an actual skateboard and not to a helmet (because your head works as a gimbals so it's pointless) so thanks for showing it. I clamp my old gopro to the board but do off road and it vibrates like mad. Will the Hero Black fix this vibration travelling straight off the body of the skateboard?

Hope someone will come with a GoPro hack for Hero 6 firmware. There was absolutely no need for new Hero but just to pull their stocks up they had to. Even the gopro awards changed only one with Hero7 will be awarded which is sad.

But the real question is how much the h7 crop the video more (or less idk) than a h6? They are both EIS so somewhere they have to scale the video in a certain way. How much quality and video size do i lose? That comparison should be interesting.

I think the real comparison is between the Hero &, and the Sony FDR-X3000 with optical stabilization and 20mbps higher bitrate (from almost two years ago).

I got the Hero 7 day before yesterday and today I shot side-by-side videos to compare them. After viewing the footage, the difference is nothing short of amazing! The Hypersmooth on the Hero 7 puts the three-axis electronic image stabilization on the Hero 6 to shame. Unfortunately, I recorded everything in 4K (for the first time ever) and discovered that my video editing program (Hitfilm Express) doesn't support HEVC/H.264 video ; it only imported the audio portion of the MP4. So I'm going to repeat the experiment in 1080p @ 60 fps and make my own comparison video. When I'm done, I'll post the link here.

Greetings from Greece!! i think that ill buy a used Gopro 6 for begining for motorcycle rides... but i want to ask you something.. i see some videos from gopro 6 at youtube and when someone goes little faster with motorcycle or just bike, then, every 3-4 seconds image getting full of pixels for 1 second. You know, goes very pixelation and this hapent again and again with standard tempo as the speed keeps the same. 4 seconds good image, then PIXELS, 4 seconds good image, then PIXELS.... WHY? Is the settings of camera or program editing? i think is both, for camera settings every case is different ,okey, but what about editing ,like premiere pro? what is the best posible settings to export videos at premiere ? what codec? I know that youtube compress files, but i want to know how some people make veeery good videos like you!! sorry if i say tooo much but i don't want to buy it if i can't make good videos without pixelation on youtube.

The problem is that in most of these stabilization tests they film someone walking or running in front of the camera, and that minimizes the differences because our eyes will always focus on the guy who's walking. The best way to test stabilization is by walking with nothing in front of the camera so our eyes can focus on the horizon. That's when the differences become more clear.
