Cud u tell us to create a 20 sec final time lapse video how long do we have to shoot in intervals of 2 or 5 sec?
@GreatDayForAHike
@GreatDayForAHike 2 жыл бұрын
Certainly. So this will be dependent on if your timeline will be 24fps or 30fps but I’ll give the math for both. For a 20 second final time lapse in 24fps you’ll need to do 480 photos. At a 2 second interval you need to shoot photos for 16 minutes. At a 5 second interval you’ll need to shoot photos for 40 minutes. For the 20 second time lapse in 30fps you’ll need to do 600 photos. At a 2 second interval you’ll need to shoot photos for 20 minutes. At a 5 second interval you’ll need to shoot photos for 50 minutes.
@SankySweeVlogs

@@GreatDayForAHike thanks a lot! u hv written "photos", but this will work for the video mode as well right? i mean the math. so if i want a 20sec timelapse consisting of buildings, traffic as well as clouds, i can safely shoot in video mode for 20minutes at a 2sec interval for 2.7k and 30fps?
@GreatDayForAHike
@GreatDayForAHike 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, that is correct. You can translate this to video mode as well. Video mode on the GoPro for a time lapse defaults to 30fps so you’d want to use the 30 fps math for that.

What is the best setup for a 2 day straight time lapse Hero 9 black? Power, SD card etc...Indoors - stage setup. I would like to run video mode not photo. Help?
@GreatDayForAHike
@GreatDayForAHike 2 жыл бұрын
You would likely want an interval of at least 1 minute between each frame and you would want to use good indoor settings for the GoPro (ISO Min 100 and ISO Max of 800). You’ll want to use 4K as well. For power you would likely want to use an extension cord connected to a USB-c wall charger. For MicroSD card, 64GB should be sufficient if you’re doing video mode.

I notice in your video mode sample that the subject appears to be the sky and clouds. But if the image one desired I was more of the land and some of the sky how would one adjust the settings? Thank you for a nice instructional video.
@GreatDayForAHike

These settings would still hold up well for that type of use case as well and give you the best results for daytime time lapses.

@GreatDayForAHike

Photo mode will give you the best, highest quality if you’re willing to edit the photos. Video mode will be lower quality but with minimal editing as a trade-off.

how many hours do your time laps's usually take to film?
@GreatDayForAHike
@GreatDayForAHike 3 жыл бұрын
If it’s a night lapse I usually like to setup my camera all night from sunset to sunrise. If it’s a subset or sunrise time lapse I like to do two hours or so. If it’s during the day I do anywhere from four to eight hours.

For how long do you usually record the timelapse
@GreatDayForAHike
@GreatDayForAHike 3 жыл бұрын
I usually like to do at least 6 hours of real time for a time lapse during the day so that I have plenty of footage to work with for speeding up the time lapse. If it’s a sunrise or sunset I like to do about 3 hours so that it shows the full progression of the sun rising or setting. For night lapses I like to do at least 10-12 hours depending upon the time of year so that I get the entirety of the night.

What computer do I need to edit these 4K videos can a $500 laptop work or do I have to spent way more? Any help would be great .
@GreatDayForAHike
@GreatDayForAHike 3 жыл бұрын
That’s a great question. Most average-spec computers will technically edit 4K footage but the trade-off is usually time. For example, a 4K video that takes me 10 minutes to export on my high-spec custom-build editing desktop may take 25 minutes to export on a few-year-old iMac and 1 hour or more to export on an average-spec laptop. If one edits 4K videos occasionally and not often, the time trade-off with an average-spec laptop may be fine. If one edits 4K videos several times a week then the significant amount of time saved by a higher-spec device may justify investing in better hardware. I created a video on this topic a few months ago that specifically discusses custom-build hardware for video editing. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bKjPpGh5jJeoY80 The reason I specifically like building my own desktop for video editing is because I can generally get the most bang for my buck.

Right now, one of the best-value laptops that can handle frequent 4K editing in a timely manner is this one from Dell: Dell G5 15 SE. With the following specs the price comes out to around $1,100. CPU: AMD Ryzen R7 4800H | GPU: AMD Radeon RX 5600M | RAM: 16GB | Storage: 512GB SSD | Display: 15.6-inch (1080p, 144Hz)

How can I open the JPR files ¿ because I try to open and my Computer 💻 and I can’t only JPG files Can you help me please
@GreatDayForAHike
@GreatDayForAHike 3 жыл бұрын
The Raw GPR files generally cannot be viewed on most operating systems without photo editing software/until they are converted to JPG. I use Adobe Lightroom Classic for editing these but there are some other photo editing applications that can be used as well. The GPR file with the corresponding JPG name will look the same initially but the GPR file will contain more information and detail which enables you more flexibility if you wish to do extensive editing. You can also use the JPG files if you don’t wish to do extensive editing.
