I want to know what the FOV will be on the new Hero, also stabilization on Quik all good, but any chance of having then horizon leveling (and without shrinking the FOV too much)?

With new little Hero, you will have to use GoPro QUIK app to have stabilization on clips first. If you pull the card out of the camera and put on computer, it will look shaky… that’s only way with QUIK app or I think you could edit stabilization on your own editing program. QUIK app is free

It’s stabilized in (gopro) software afterwards. Not sure about outcome tho. That way the battery lasts longer, less/no overheating (i hope).

Honestly, the Hero10 is a fantastic all around GoPro & with it being a few generations old now you can get it for pretty cheap. 😊

Absolutely! GoPro hero 10,11,12 are getting cheaper, still great camera you could afford, they have 1080p with few different lens view than hero with only wide view. Also hero don’t have removable battery that would suck for you if you want to shoot for hours.

Thanks for covering the new Hero. Hardly anything on it yet. Wow, it is MUCH smaller than the defunct Mini! Unfortunately, according to what GoPro rep told me this morning, the Hero is not compatible with an external Mic. That eliminates this camera for one of the main activities for getting a small form factor GoPro, that being motovlogging...bummer. If anyone has received info to the contrary please reply.

Thanks for the nice review! I can't wait to see more about the... I guess it's the Hero, not the Hero Black 13? Weird naming scheme, kinda makes it hard to search for info, but interesting idea to take some of the heat and energy use and maybe weight out by getting rid of the in-camera stabilization. Anyway I am eager to see more about how it works and what the workflow and results are like. I love my 11 Mini but might get this thing once we see more.

Yeah true I was thinking the same… I still using mini 11 because of superview, on this new Hero, only shoot in wide and on QUIK app let you change lens to linear only, no super or hyper views 😥 also I am big fan of back / low profile back fingers on mini 11 that is very useful for my hockey helmet and other stuff

It's crazy to me that they got the HERO to be lighter than the 11mini. I was thinking about getting a used 11 mini but $200 is also SO cheap. You'll have to do another video about the stabilization, I'd be really upset if the new HERO doesn't have horizon lock.

It looks like the HERO lacks horizon lock, and is also missing a load of other features (it appears it doesn't even have an image processor in it)

Both cameras have only one side door for battery charge port and SD card access... HERO don't have removable battery like HERO13

@MicBergsma I have had gopros 1, 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 and 11. Most of them i have had problems with. I last purchased the gopro 11 black mini. I used it 3 times let it sit for about 4 months and it wouldn't turn on. Honestly think I'm gonna wait for another brand to shortly come out with something. I feel the support in the uk for gopro is lacking plus I have had alot of trouble and replacements over the years.

This is a "no thanks", for me. The minor HDR improvement, the lens gimmicks and the "heatsinks" don't provide enough "umph" for me to reset my GoPro architecture to a whole new battery system for my kayak fishing. I guess I'll be waiting another year for some actual improvements. By then, I may very well have gone all-in on DJI, depending on what their next cam improves upon. This is the first time I'm passing on a GoPro since the 8. This is a pretty disappointing release.
