GoPro Hreo 7 Black Mic not working Audio Input N/A

Hey everyone!

This video is a request from GoPro Support to show them a problem that I've been having and that a lot people seem to be having with their setups.

Same problem with my hero 6..the MIC disappeared and not available..very stressful coz the mic adapter was not cheap !!

I use the GoPro audio adapter plugged into the C port on camera(Hero 7 Black). I use three cameras. Two of the cameras I can get the powered mic option to display while the third camera never displays it. I have manually updated all cameras. Still waiting on GoPro to provide some support here????

Hi, I have protune on and you then have control over mike.so you can alter settings? My main issue is when using mandatory mike adapter to record while riding my motorcycle the electric static type noise shafts my video, Go pro have no answer, or so they say, it is not a difficult fix, surgical mouldable silicone moulded around the adapter input to the GoPro and hey presto it works, why should we have to do this, an expensive camera, an expensive adapter just because GoPro say we must use the adapter (and fixed it so we have no alternative), not difficult to make a proper method to secure the adapter to the camera and keep it watertight to boot, we should have sent all of our adapter back to GoPro as not fit for purpose, maybe just maybe we would have very quickly had a proper fix?????

Same issue. Using GoPro Black 5. Purchased years ago but never used external mic until recently. Using UPS C Lavalier Mic.

@old man strength I learned that the OEM Adapter is required (not just any adapter = Money grab). Cannot plug USB C directly to GoPro. Cannot plug USB C into adapter as that side is for power only.

Protunes need to be on to enable mic phones but even with protunes enable, even I haven’t issues now with the adapter. It’s only good for powering the GoPro “not for charging batteries. Use the adapter without battery inside the GoPro

@Deep vlogs No. Im still finding the solution. I do not have the 'Quick Capture' issue. I even down grade the firmware frm 2.1 to 1.6, which actually improve the image stabilazation, hoping the mic issue will solve. Unfortunately it didnt, ended up me buying a H7 for vlogging. Demmit. Anyone have solution for this? Somehow its only with H6. Weird shit man.

you have wrong plug going into mic adapter,yours is 4 way, should be 3 way. ie your plug has 3 black rings, it should only have 2

I found the solution: You need to use a 3.5 audio jack connector with 2 black rings .. the one with 3 rings doesn't work.

the thing is you are using TRRS 3.5 jack (3 black stripes) but you need TRS (2stripes)

Turned off Screen capture, wifi, re-updated the firmware v20.1, charged the batt 100%, now the option is once available.( GOPRO6)

Turn off Bluetooth connections on Gopro.

Leave everything as is.... remove battery and and leave battery out of your gopro. plug a power bank into the adapter's type c input. And this helped me use my go pro with a mic. This powers your adapter and mic and go pro. This worked for me. Might work for u. It is slightly bulky but works for me

Having same problem with my Hero 5. Seemed to work when I first connected my purple panda external microphone but then for some reason it has just stopped working and when I check the settings the audio input says NA. The GoPro will only record with the internal microphones and not the external microphone despite having all of the correct adapters and cables have been checked several times. I’ve even done a factory reset but still cannot get the external microphone input to work

your mic is a TRRS microphone, must be TRS!.

That's not the issue, as you still would have the options in the Audio Input/Output.
