GoPro Karma Drone UNBOXING (2017 Re-Released Version)

I bought the Karma as a Christmas gift in late October from best buy, was never notified of recall, after Christmas my nephew said that the controller on Karma was bricked and he would send it back to me so I could get refund and free hero5, no time Frame was ever given on initial recall. I go to return it and gopro says they would be happy to refund my money but no hero5. Said I was not inconvenienced enough.

I had to contact GoPro customer service and sent them a copy of my receipt from Best Buy. I bought two recall Karmas one from Best Buy and one from GoPro. My Hero 5 from GoPro came easy, my Best Buy Hero 5 took FOREVER. Basically I just had to keep pestering them. It's terrible customer service but I got it eventually.

How do you like the Karma? I just sold my Hero 4 Silver for $300. I have $300 now to put towards Karma Pkg which means I would only be spending $800. I want a drone, gimbal and Hero 5. Is the DJI Mavic Pro worth the $500 difference? Thanks!

+Brigham Yates I personally haven't liked the video quality I have seen from the Mavic. My personal opinion is that if your looking for a drone to have fun flying or easier flying, go Mavic. If your looking for something to make quality video, go Karma to get the grip, drone, and great video.

Tech Chex & Reviews Thanks for feedback! Probably will go with GoPro. Save $500 and put that towards the next drone they come out with. Let's just hope it works with current gimbal and Hero 5. Ha!

I would say it would work with the Hero5 and geez I hope they keep the gimbal interface the same so you can just buy a new airframe. If I had to guess I would say they will make it all interchangeable. They seem to be going to a modular design with the ability to swap parts as needed. Hopefully this is a hint of how they plan on rolling out updates where you can add components to your drone or upgrade just the drone body and keep your existing remote, gimbal, camera, and batteries.

The owners manual tells you to comply with all regulations. It's no different to things like GMRS radios that are sold off the shelves and people not knowing they have to have a license to operate on the GMRS channels. GoPro has it covered in the owners manual, I also think most people spending $1,000 on a drone are very aware of the FAA regulations since most buyers are reading a zillion message boards and watching KZbin videos. Maybe I will do a FAA registration video to help educate people who come to my channel.

It should just be in the settings. If it isn’t connecting I suggest contacting tech support.

+Ken Bomzal says the DJI fanboy with the DJI avatar lol. Just kidding. I accept your criticism. DJI is an awesome drone. I just so happen to think Karma is a better value for equal if not better video quality comparing P4 or Mavic to the Karma. Everyone has a preference, mine is Karma.
