Great video. I wish they came out with a tiny pov camera as big as a watch face that simply strapped around your head like a headband. Maybe one day.

I would buy that!

Extremely helpful and insightful video. Do you have a link for the nylon lease to attach to wetsuit?
@Strayalongtheway3 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks for the comment. Unfortunately I don't have any links to the nylon cord as I pulled mine off an old roll.

With the mount fixed to the leash and tied to the wetsuit cord, has it ever hit you in the head or tangled around your neck on a wipeout? It's always made me anxious about fixing on with a cord for that reason. Also, there is a trend to zipperless suits now - my most recent one is. I guess that a chest strap inside the suit may work in the same way... I have used a bite mount that will fix into a surfboard mount that I have attached to my board, so i can paddle out with the mount fixed onto the front of the board and then switch it to my mouth, I find it really hard work paddling out on a big day with something in my mouth - I need air! You don't get that security of fixing that to your suit though. The bite mount does seem to hit the gag reflex too, different style to the one that you are using. I think the bite mount goes further over the back of the tongue, rather than splitting to either side like yours does. Licking the lens seems to work pretty well too to keep the lens slippy and water off. Thanks for the video, nicely done. Tidy barrels too.

Hey, thanks for the comment. I've never had any issues with the cord or been hit in the face. The cord I use is pretty short so there's no excess which probably helps. If you're nervous about that though, I have a friend who attaches his to his bicep leash instead of his wetsuit zip. Maybe that's an option too?

Maybe a stupid question...but how do you stick the foat divice on the gopro without making the backscreen useless?Or do you accept that the screen is not useable anymore. Love to hear an answer 🤙🏽
@Strayalongtheway4 жыл бұрын
Definitely not a stupid question, and the exact same one I had with my GoPro Hero7. Seems like a silly thing to have all the settings on the back screen and then block it with the floaty back. Looks like they've solved that problem with the Hero8 though. Instead of a floaty back, they have a floaty case (amzn.to/369E3rs) This wraps around the camera and allows access to the back screen. There's also one for the Hero9 although, I couldn't find an official GoPro model on Amazon. I basically shoot on the same settings every time I surf (120fps | Super wide | 1080p | flat profile | quick capture on) so I don't ever find the need to change those in the middle of a session. I also find that, when I dive and I don't use the floaty back, trying to use that back screen in the water is a bit iffy, so even if I could access it during a surf session, I'm not sure it would be that easy. Hope that helps...

Have you tried a chest mount?

Not for surfing. I imagine it would make paddling around difficult? Have you used one for surfing?

@@Strayalongtheway Thanks for replying. No I haven’t, I am a body boarder and I’m thinking about getting a go pro and getting some barrel cam footage. I think you’re right that it would get in the way when paddling, I had that thought as well. The mouth mount seems to be the least restrictive, but yeah, it still seems like a bit of a hassle paddling, and looking a little goofy haha. I think if the go pro could be high enough on the chest it wouldn’t be too bad, although there’s a chance you could split your chin on it.
@Strayalongtheway3 жыл бұрын
@@BKJ-88 yeah, maybe it'll work, but I think you'd have a hard time getting the angle right as well. I have a mate who rides with a back pole mount and that looks pretty cool, but such a mission paddling and duckdiving.

I wanted to know about alternating between the bite mount and board mount

I haven't found anything that lets you swap between. Would be a great invention though!
