can you explain why it wouln't work properly in 8:7? @06:10 i mean if you properly desqueeze manually you could get close to a 16x9 final delivery aspect ratio what would be sick. or do you mean that if the sensor is read out fully (8:7) black corners of the adapter will show ?

I wonder if creating a custom lens profile in gyroflow would allow for better stabilization with fast motion or 4:3 recording.

I filmed this in Sharpness = Low and Color = Flat and then graded the footage when editing to add back the color, bump up the contrast, etc.

Thank you. This is mainly because when using the 8:7 aspect ration you are only able to have the lens set to Wide. There are no other lens options when using 8:7.

Thank you for the video! I am thinking of attaching some go pros with anamorphic lenses on my car (or the side, on the bumper, on the roll bar in a convertible so gimbals are impossible. If I decided to film in 5.3K would I be able to stabilise enough in final cut pro or imovie to get stable pictures in 4K do you think, ie use post recording stabilisation? Thank you for your opinion!

You're welcome! I think this definitely has the potential to work, especially if you use a mount such as the suction cup mount that keeps the GoPro relatively smooth and connected to the movement of the car. I have used my GoPro without any stabilization turned on while having them mounted to a car and overall I found the results to be great. If you'd like to see some samples, there are some in this video around 10:06 and beyond: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eJPVdGt9eMt_ptE In these clips I was even driving on some streets that had stone and brick and were not exactly smooth. All that to say, you may be able to record that footage with a car mount and not even need to stabilize any further in post. I did not stabilize any of these samples from my car mount due to not needing to. Have fun!

Great question. I have tried this on the Inkee Falcon Plus and while it can be made to work I feel like the stabilization struggled a bit too much for my liking due to the front end weigh of the anamorphic lens. It is solid.

Wouldn't a better solution be to shoot Wide without the anamorphic lens, then use GoPro FX ReFrame to convert to Linear in Premiere, as you can preserve the wide horizontal FOV. This way you can shoot with Hypersmooth or not, and shoot 4:3 or 8:7, to get a ultra-wide Linear 16:9 if you wish. It work well, no blurry edges.

This could absolutely be done as well. I’ll do some further experimenting with this as I use Premiere Pro a lot. I need to do some side-by-side with anamorphic vs non-anamorphic to see which ends up being the wider linear footage. Thanks for sharing and contributing your idea.

Thank you for this video, I got the same anamorphic lens (it's branded as newwer but definitely the same thing), been trying to get it to work with hypersmooth anyway for my use in capturing my eskateboard riding. 5.3K, hypersmooth on, can crop it out of frame into a 4k timeline in post. I refuse to use digital zoom in camera. I got hypersmooth looking pretty go in the video on my channel tbh. I don't have a gimbals but I have a gravgrip I ordered to see if it helps. I just like making nature videos with the pretty lens flare. 😊
