Was going a bit slow yesterday until I got an axe upgrade and a 4th link for Expert Retaliation, changed everything and the build instantly felt so much more powerful.

I'd say movement is the best choice by far. Ele res is gained by countless means including several nodes on the passive tree, jewel slots and is very easy to overcap, as well as run purity for ailment immunity as well. Movement speed is almost impossible to get on the tree and only on specific notables on the green side of the tree. Additionally, movement speed is not found on items other than boots unless they're unique or via other interactions.

Im playing this with storm shield, 35% block 22% spell block, and uptime is with retaliation ascendancy node is about 80% in act 6, barely feel the need to even run a regular skill. You can block/spell block cap without the ascendancy easily. Eviscerate into crushing fist with bloodlust support. Kills everything zero problems. Also the 5 rage on retaliate skills means max rage almost all the time.

I'm aslo running acts on retaliate. Wanna mark that glacial shield swipe is an awesome save button, because it allways freezes enemies. I'm running 3 retaliate skills and some times continue spamming it, like for hole minute. Thanks to glad retaliate node.

I also leveled with this but I took measured retaliation first + prepared response with Glacial Shield Swipe. It felt really good in the campaign and did a lot of damage even with little to no links. Also took Jagged Technique for my Merc lab then swapped to Determined Survivor + More Than Skill after uber lab as I already had plenty of block on my shield+tree

I did some things different to you while leveling but really enjoyed the idea - thanks a lot Only bummer right now is the fact that I love blight but this build (at least while early mapping) doesnt seem to work with the mechanic since you need the block which you dont really get too often with lanes.

I've been using Eviscerate as a main-ish skill, lacerate for when I have nothing else to press, and crushing fist + vengeful cry in a seperate link so I can piano my way through fights with the 35% and 50% nodes. Vengeful Cry in particular has been handy against bosses, if I don't get a block proc I tend to get the savage hit proc instead, and I can usually use the warcry to activate eviscerate or at least crushing fist. Crushing Fist in particular has felt pretty eh, it has a longer windup than my other attacks so it feels a bit clunky. I actually went from Measured Retaliation straight into the bleed ascendancy nodes, simply because I found a 43% block shield at level 35 and was already soft block capped, I'll probably still go into it at Uber lab just to get a little bit more block, as well as open up my shield slot for other stats instead of %increased block and flat block.

I got a Stone of Lazhwar and that plus tempest sheild got me 30% spell block. made all the difference when leveling

Been trying a variation of this build. Not the biggest fan, feels kinda slow and i just hate having to fish for blocks when there are very few mobs around or a slow as boss fight

I struggled a bit at start mainly because it really needs a good axe to do noticeable damage despite the insane damage effectiveness. Working towards Jack the Axe so i can finally do the big deeps and then a rare axe with all the nutty buffs to weapons.

May I recommend anointing Crushing Reply (one of each of the first three oils) onto your neckpiece and dropping fortify from the retalation skills?

I was able to cap my spell block using a high block chance shield (37%), versatility, and tempest shield. So that let me get bleed explosions in cruel lab. Blood magic didnt seem needed at all in the campaign.

I didnt take the bleed explosion but i also changes the build into where my retalition gives me 5 rage every retaliation.

I made it through the campaing with only retaliation skills as my damage source and i melted everything and died only 10 times in the campaing 10/10 would recoment

Retaliation node in the glad ascendancy is busted, im playing with eviscerate + crushing fist while leveling, if lucky i can hit 4-5 consecutive times with each one, just need to be careful with stunlock and youre good.

I've actually been doing hit based retaliation using shield throw/crush depending on my sockets at the time. Using an axe you can use Eviscerate, Crushing Fist, and Glacial Shield Swipe and you deal an incredible about of dmg. With area scaling Eviscerate can hit a lot of things twice, so it deals decent hit damage, and crush fist with Fist of war doesnt care what is in front of it. GS also scales with your shield stats so it always hits super hard. It's been a lot of fun, I honestly thing a crit version would be out there one shotting bosses. Also the node that gives you rage on use is so good.

WHen you are in maps and have done all your labs, you wont need any more retaliation than Eviscerate, it procs so often you would just be wasting time using the other ones.

I'm currently following your Zizaran guide, but I went a bit too hard on 2H sunder and I went completely off-build, I finally traded good enough starting gear to swap shield and a 350 pdps axe but I'm not entirely sure how I have to play yet :') Now that I have done the first 3 labs and ended all 10 acts, I'm ready to map with some decent gear and get familiar with the actual build ! My biggest confusion right now comes from auras and blood magic, how/when do you use pride, vitality and herald of purity given that you're using blood magic ? Did I skim over something ? EDIT : For those wondering, use pride with eternal blessing, ditch herald of purity.

U dont use herald of purity. After u put eternal blessing, socket it with pride and since u have blood magic u will reserve life for vitality

I'm on xbox and don't have access to PoB unfortunately but I am a crushing fist gladiator and my tooltip damage on a 4 link is currently 200k with 1 of my links not counting toward calculation which is Fist of War which gives currently 93% MORE damage with hits and ailments with slams so I should be about 400k currently at level 70... loving it

Can't evade, cant be stunned.. it means you always get hit (not the mobs) more hits taken more chance to proc skills

If you press ctrl you have a second ability bar that you can put skills there and use them, its hidden But you can use them without showing, you can also change their keybinds

@@roelie1255 sword storm was just a 2 link while bladestorm was a 3 link i swapped them after first lab getting the extra 20% dual wielding block Edit: also currently experimenting with 6 linking replica wings of entropy to have swordstorm and bladestorm until i can get some better weapons

Following your first pob and really liking this build so far, eviscerate feels so nice to use, I really like it. I agree with your notes saying that sunder 1h feels weak cause it kinda does, about to start act 10 and I think I'll also switch to bladestorm and try it out. Looking forward to seeing a finished tree. Btw, I think something might be wrong with the current character pob because it's missing 2 ascendancies and the body armor. How good is Jack the axe? It's 60c now which I can't afford but would it be a good first upgrade?
