GORD is a condition where acid from the stomach reaches your food pipes, causing heartburn. Here we have Dr Daniel Atkinson, the Clinical Lead at Treated, to tell us what GORD is and how you can treat it.
Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD) is a common condition, which causes recurring episodes of heartburn (a burning sensation in your chest) and acid reflux (stomach acid which reaches your throat). While nearly everyone will experience some degree of heartburn or acid reflux at some point in their life, certain factors may increase your likelihood of getting GORD, including pregnancy, eating fatty foods and obesity. Fortunately, there are various treatments available for GORD, such as Lansoprazole, a protein pump inhibitor (PPI) that inhibits acid production, or Gaviscon, an antacid that neutralises stomach acid.
The Treated team can help you get the GORD treatment that’s best for your life. Subscribe, pause or stop whenever it suits you. Choose better.
