My periods had been very regular and relatively short my entire life. For the last 3 years or so, my cramps started to change to excruciating stabbing knifelike pains, so bad that I would be screaming and I have a fairly high pain tolerance. Furthermore, I started to pass clots that were worrisome. But these conditions only lasted for about a day or two and then would disappear. My doctor prescribed me norethindrone acetate in February if this year. I last had my period in March. Since then I have ceased to cramp or bleed. But I have no idea how long this will last or if I should take the medication indefinitely. I do experience full belly, water retention and bloating, especially around the time my period should have come. But I’ll take bloating any day over those horrible pains.

why does a guy with grey hair have to talk to teenagers and tween about periods. i mean that is kind of gross. couldn't he ask a female colleague to do this talk. i think daniel atkinson should have young female patients or any male. men shouldn't be gynocologists under at the zoo delivering hippos elephants giraffes and rhinos. stay out of women's health. what does anyone else think?

Awful medication I was under the impression progesterone made you sleep better Started taking norethisterone five weeks ago and I’ve been awake the majority of the five weeks, suffering extreme anxiety and insomnia. I wouldn’t recommend it to even my worst enemy!

Hi, thanks for your question. It's okay to drink alcohol when taking norethisterone. However, it's important to make sure you drink responsibly. If you drink too much and you vomit within two hours of taking norethisterone, it could possibly effect how effective the treatment is. It's always best to check with your doctor before having a substance that could effect medication.

Hi, thanks for your question. Flixotide is a daily preventer inhaler for asthma. You are normally prescribed this if your asthma is hard to control with just a reliever inhaler. Although preventer inhalers like Flixotide reduce the likelihood of getting asthma attacks, they don’t always stop them completely, and they don’t provide quick symptom relief. Because of this, you’ll still need to make sure that you have a reliever inhaler to hand in case you get a flare-up of symptoms. If you're unsure of how to use your inhaler, it's always best to speak to your GP so they can answer all of your questions in detail.

Hi there, thanks for your question. Glentriz cream contains the same active ingredient as Aldara cream: imiquimod. They will work in the same way if they are both cream treatments to be applied to the skin.

Not sure why it took so long at my age (37) to find one that worked for me. In the end it was Lucette (same ingredient as Yasmin) just a non branded version I think. I felt my best on it (lots of energy) and could easily woek through my 12 hour shifts at the hospital and when I would be on my 7 day break my period (withdrawal bleed) was a god send!! Could even wear a tampon for the full 8 hours without bleeding through like I used to with life before the pill. I came off it due to going through fertility treatments but it was honestly was the best time of my life being on this pill.

Hey, thanks for your question. If you're worried you could be pregnant, I would suggest taking a pregnancy test and visiting your clinician for more advice. Yasmin won't stop a pregnancy that has already begun, it works as a preventative measure to stop you getting pregnant in the first place. Hope that helps.

Hi there, thanks for your question. Xenical only works in the presence of fat in your body that has come from a meal. You wouldn't take the medication if you miss a meal or if you know that your meal contains no fat (however, most meals contain some fat).

Hi dr I also need some information m suffering from pcos and not having my periods for 4 months and m taking norethisterone 3 tablets per day I noticed white clear raw egg white like discharge and also ovulation test is positive. Is it possible to ovulate while taking norethistrone or its false positive M trying to conceive.

Hi Imra, yes it is still possible to ovulate while taking Norethisterone. There is little evidence to suggest it can effect fertility. If you're worried and trying to conceive, I would suggest having a chat with your doctor for some advice.

Hi, thanks for your question. Your next period should arrive 2-3 days after you finish taking Norethisterone. Some people do report irregularities in their cycle for a short while after.

You can smoke while on it. I’ve been on it for a couple weeks and continued smoking but have noticed that I’ve gone from smoking half a pack a day to about 2-4 cigarettes a day.

I don't eat red meat to any extent, actually very rarely. Do not drink, very little sugar, no seafood etc. I do eat beans, but not a lot,, actually do not eat a lot of the foods that causes gout, but I still get flare ups.

It is suggested you take some form of multivitamin to make up for the nutrients lost through fat.
