I had planned on posting another cover this week but I've been under the weather and currently don't have a strong enough voice to sing, so in the meantime, I thought I'd post another Lightfoot concert from back in the day. I hope to post one more as a request in the coming week or so. Here's a little background on this one:
When Gordon Lightfoot performed in Seattle, Washington on June 21st, 1975, he played two shows in one day. One was given in the early part of the day and again later in the evening. Mimi Farina opened for him both times.
This recording was taken from the evening show and features both Terry Clements and Red Shea on lead guitar as was common during much of the 1975 tour. This recording is very clear and the distinction between Red and Terry's playing can be heard much better than in the Massey Hall concert I posted a few weeks ago. Gordon and the band were in top form as always and several great songs are played. The setlist features all original Lightfoot material except "The Auctioneer". Covers of "Tennessee Stud" and "Partners" were not played during this concert and I'm not quite sure if this was beginning point of their removal from future setlists as by 1976 both songs were omitted from all future Lightfoot concerts as far as my research shows.
This recording is very high quality and has been left unedited with the exception of "High and Dry" being cut out completely. The reason for this is the tape abruptly starts during the last verse of the song, so I decided to remove it. The rest of the set has been left unedited and unpolished.
Setlist:
High and Dry (only partially there and subsequently removed)
Carefree Highway
Bend In The Water
Don Quixote
Christian Island
All The Lovely Ladies
The Soul Is The Rock
Now And Then
Sundown
Cotton Jenny
The Auctioneer
If You Could Read My Mind
Cherokee Bend
Pussywillows Cat-Tails
Canadian Railroad Trilogy
Old Dan's Records
Fine As Fine Can Be
Hope you all enjoy!
