He is an acquired taste. I wouldn't expect his palate to stoop to my level of microwave improvising, but his palate is very experienced. We all love what we love. I'm sure that some high end quality foods, i may not appreciate but as a Naive American man, I know we all put our pantyhose on the same way. Gordon is honest. And a true chef will never sugar coat anything, and can sprinkle salt on the wound to add taste.

Chef Ramsay doesn't laugh out of genuine mockery, he is actually hiding what could potentially be a VERY unpleasant rebuke by trying to "lighten it up". And Gordon is well known for telling you how it is, what he thinks of a dish, and often is just giving you the truth. Chances are, if he doesn't like it, guests wouldn't either.

Iirc the grilled ceasar salad from the restaurant was just a halved head of romaine put on the grill and served with a vinaigrette. Now the biggest problem is that they didn’t prep it at all. He mentioned that they didn’t cut out the heart, making it a really lazy way to do a grilled ceasar. The plate here sliced the greens off the head to serve it. Its that one simple thing that was telling of how little the restaurant cared.

It looks like a very tiny and very sad hot pocket. Fill that plate with fruit! If you pick the right stuff, it has hardly any calories. The problems with this dish: - It gets lost on an already tiny plate. Nobody would pay for that. It looks like a joke. - It looks bland and lacks colour. - The presentation is boring. Even the little attempt at presentation isn't very nice. The fruit pieces aren't in a straight line. - It takes no skill to make this. It's one of the simplest things I've seen in this competition.
