It’s kinda frustrating that so-called professionals can be so indifferent to the fact that each culture’s food can have markedly different flavor profiles and preparation even within the same region. No, Japanese cuisine isn’t like Chinese cuisine and your attempt to say that it is excusable since you “know flavor” instead of admitting your ignorance and the importance of that knowledge is frustrating. Well of course chicken is on Japanese menus. But saying you don't see much means that while there many chicken dishes there's more fish. Being extremely generous to Zach, hearing someone say something just before I say it wouldn't help me, he could be the same. When I'm preparing to talk, I have to really concentrate on what I'm going to say and so may miss what people are saying around me, and even if I do hear them, I'm probably not going to be able to change what I'm preparing to say. I've heard some pretty crazy pronunciations of worstershire sause and even if I said it before someone else tried saying it, it can take a few attempts to get it right, something that Zach didn't get the chance to do in front of Ramsey. However, I think bok choy and definitely soy sause are common enough for someone, especially a chef, to know the pronunciation and even of they can't say it properly, can get fairly close.

I’ve been living in Japan for the past 14 years. That “I don’t really think of chicken when I think about Japanese cuisine” is incredibly wrong. Chicken is eaten here almost everyday. While restaurants are dedicated to just chicken BBQ. Japan consumes the largest amount of eggs per capita. A normal kid’s lunch MUST contain a fried chicken, called Karaage. Yakitori, chicken skewers are one the most popular pub foods. Chicken and egg rice bowls,... shit you can even get raw chicken dishes here, no joke, effin raw! Anyways, that comments just proves that she has absolutely no idea about what she’s talking about and uses stereotypes as actual knowledge...
