Having just used this skillet for the first time, kzbin.infoUgkxIst1DRMCWM6dgd9VjXMFXlH4HeElE6Mc to batter-fry some macaroni & cheese, I'm absolutely in love with it. The foldaway design means it actually fits in my very small kitchen, but it also makes everything crazy simple to clean. While the instructions say you should not deep fry in this, you can, but do it with your best judgment; in my case the oil didn't even reach the halfway mark.It's hard to see in the pictures, but the skillet itself has a lip in the corner. This allows steam to get out during cooking if the lid is on (so don't try to steam rice in it), and makes pouring out used oil extremely easy.Cleanup was a dream. After detaching the plug and control circuit, the unit is just three separate pieces: The skillet itself, the lid, and the base which may or may not need any cleaning at all (usually just the handles). Compared to a dedicated deep fryer I purchased in the past, where the heating element was suspended in the oil and everything was difficult to clean, the difference was amazing.I'm definitely looking forward to using this for more things in the future.

I use a similar method like this except, I only use salt at start then hot pan with veg oil cuz it cooks higher temp, I flip my steak every 30 seconds and even on the edges. about 1:30 secs in I add my butter and garlic and steak season on all sides, keep flipping , push the steak with tongs to get your doneness. I like my medium rare. Its crunchy outside almost burnt black looking.. but OMG the flavor is better than any resturant steakhouse. It has a grill flavor with only cooking it on stove. If you want grill marks then you can use a grill pan. Its so easy and clean up is minimal.

@ChrisKerel11 жыл бұрын
Flipping a steak every 15 or so seconds sears the outside but because every side has time to cool it doesn't overcook the inside. You can get a really nice tasty crust while still keeping the inside nice and (medium) rare.
@donhillebrand201311 жыл бұрын
I believe when grilling on open hot coals you flip only once unless you want cross hash marks on the steak then flip two times.

yea, in one video he says to turn it once only and in this one he contradicts himself completely.
@perrytan347410 жыл бұрын
Kamikaze Krunch Thats coz these sirloins are very thick. If you don't turn it, then you get a gradient of well done, medium well, and only a small portion of medium rare. Flipping means that you are cooking with residual heat but also caramelising the outside.
@kamikazekrunch836310 жыл бұрын
Perry Tan Usually if they're thick, it doesn't change the flipping process since I put it in the oven. I've always been told to put it in the oven if it's thick and if it's not, you don't have to use the oven. Of course, this is the difference between cooking like a chef and cooking at home. Home food always taste better. Unless it's something I don't cook normally, which is usually what I get at a restaurant. If a person can cook a steak, it will always be better then what you get at a restaurant. imo

+1madaboutguitar You know what tastes more like beef than an actual piece of beef? A Knorr stock pot.

It tastes better with knorr on bad steaks

Believe it or not, flames from a flare up like you explained aren't terribly hot. You can wave your hands around in them fairly easily. But a campfire with lots of coals might not have any flames but you can't get within a few feet of it. I also suspect most cooks are pyros, in which case they are good at not getting burnt.

HI i need advice on bar b cueing steaks i do them done and they are tough. Here we only get lean cuts no marbling do you think this is the problem. I thaw the steaks towel dry them, dab them with some oil then season them (with a mixture of b. sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper ground red pepper) press the seasoning in let it sit for 30 mins them i put them on the grill. Char them on high heat area then leave them over the low heat area. Personally i think its the beef we get here very little fat content. any advice???
@Illusionffs9 жыл бұрын
+Ian Shamsudeen Yeah, no fat/marbling will make a piece of meat dry. It probably isn't the only solution, but putting salt that long before you cook them is probably not the best idea. Salt draws out water, so the beef will become less juicy and all that hard work you did before with towel drying is thrown out the window. Try seasoning (at least the salt) right before you cook. I am just a hobby home cook though, so if anyone has other advices go ahead.

PrepperWorkShop Im pretty sure that is an aluminum pan with a Teflon coating. I was thinking cast iron too until I got a good look at it.
@ChefT83110 жыл бұрын
PrepperWorkShop Cast iron doesn't heat evenly at all. Not to say it isn't my favorite thing to cook with, but it does not heat evenly. Thats why I preheat mine in the oven

People learn. Gordon learned that flipping the steaks often is a tried and true way to make your steaks perfect. Heston Blumenthal also has a video which shows the reason why it's better to flip your steak often instead of just leaving it on one side then turn it once. Also, the old method makes the steaks prone to burning because of the high of the pan. Turning it once every minute ensures you get a nice dark crust without burning the steaks.
