I used your method. The only issue I had was I asked the butcher to cut me 3 bone in rib eyes, 1-1/2” thick. He gave them to me already rapped up. They felt very heavy. When I got home and opened them, they were 2-1/4” thick. So, I had to leave it in the oven for 11 minutes to get the 130 degrees and I used Kosmos Q Cow Cover HOT BBQ Rub and at the end under low heat the thyme, rosemary and 3 garlic cloves, lots of butter. Also, I’ve never preheated my cast iron in the oven, again a perfect idea. Absolutely delicious!! Thanks

I pan-fry all of my steaks! I like to sautee some mushrooms on the side while I'm waiting for the steak to rest. It's a great combo! Another of my favorite sides is to cut the florettes off of about 1/2 head of cauliflower or a couple of good sized bunches of broccoli, put them in an appropriate-sized covered bowl with about a 1/4 cup of water and steam them in the microwave for about 5 mins. They come out great without all the nutrients cooked out of them. Finish with some butter, salt and pepper and you're good to go...

I just got an 18 oz ribeye. Can't wait to prepare it this way. I don't have the herb, but I'm sure it will be good anyway.

I'm a Gordon Ramsey nerd. But your method I like so much better than his. They're very similar but your method was easier to follow! i've done them both now several times and the preheated cast iron and the oven jobby makes for such a great ribeye! Thank you sir

You would think my mouth would be watering watching this, but its not. It very well should, but I'm watching this to cook a ribeye for my mom tonight because shes had a rough week and she loves rare steaks. This was extremely helpful and useful so I thank you. I'm sure she will love it

I like to do mine seared in cast iron on a charcoal grill. I set the pan right on the coals to get it to 450+ degrees, sear the steak with lots of butter and finish it on the grill rack.

Just wanted to add that I followed the method earlier and my steak was amazing! Love this channel! The only difference as my pan was hot enough, I turned the gas off and added the butter and garlic then.

Drooling! 🤤 I also want to know if it's not as thick, does it still go into the oven? I definitely want to do this right. Lol!

Yes it does! Or you could just finish cooking in the pan if you wish. The key is to use a meat thermometer and pull it at the right temperature, no matter how you cook it.

I don't have an oven and so I have to do things differently. Can I use a Dutch oven on top of the stove?

just finished eating my stake... I did exactly as you did and... wow! just wow! I have finally found the perfect way for me to cook a stake after I have tried dozens of ways that just didn't work. the only thing I have changed is that I kept the stake for 10 minutes inside the oven instead of 6-7. if anyone is reading my comment, do your self a favor and don't skip any step and don't substitute any of the ingredients, you will not regret it.

I like the preheat Skillet in the Oven advise. Gonna try that on my next one. A steak that thick and fine I'd Dry Brine it first at least 48 hours. If ya don't know what that is. It's when you salt the steak nice and evenly and let it sit in the fridge. The salt draws out moisture, the salt melts, the steak reabsorbs the moisture and salt, and more evenly seasons the steak all the way through. It is just phenomenal I'm like what have I been doing with my life up to this point.

Is the temperature of the oven to remain at 450⁰ when you put the steak in? Or does it need to be lower?
