I gotta say after being a fine dining cook now for 6 months, watching Chef Andi and Chef James. That's how its done, 2 cooks handling 6 stations with occasional help from Chef. Watching the fact on the other side you have 6 chefs including a floater work 6 stations.. Its very eye opening.. You can see why many of the winners of this show never really become the head chefs of the restaurants they're competing for and how they just end up as Line cooks..

I think most HK winners become Jr. Sous chefs, and not Executive chefs of a Gordon Ramsay restaurant. The prize at the start is to be the winner of HK and receive the title of Executive chef. The only problem with that is the restaurant being offered, has been in operation for months or years, and already has executive and sous chefs. The way it's presented on TV is a new restaurant is being built just for this winner of HK, but that isn't true. But I also think most times those chefs quit, and from what I've seen, a good bit of HK contestants become catering chefs.

@@eriksucksatgames To add to that, if you are competent, it's pretty easy to manage stations when your team knows what he/she is doing. Having more in the kitchen doesn't necessarily mean efficient. I had cooks i was taking in charge of and one of them just looked out of it. I was looking at the order and wondered why she wasn't doing anything or keeping up to speed. Her other colleagues are covering for her too much that they get overwhelmed by their own stuff. They couldn't reliably maintai n a tempo in the kitchen and gets disrupted when it comes to her station. It happened too many times that i had to basically put her to just wash the dishes instead. With her gone in the kitchen, it gave us more room and space to work around in the kitchen with just 3 people manning the stations. All 3 have main stations to cover but all 3 are also floaters when need be. If one station is overwhelmed, the station with less pressure steps in and supports a bit and works seamlessly. It's a great joy to work efficiently. With just a few words, all are in tune of what the others are doing and what to do next

One thing I’ve noticed… Ramsey doesn’t change his volume on the first or sometimes second mistake. It’s when they’re repeating or continuously make mistakes he starts going off. He allows them one or two mistakes until he starts turning the heat up.

Because those are rather difficult dishes to cook. A minute over/under and the food is over/under cooked. Considering the grand prize is head chef at a upscale restaurant. Only the best should win. Anyone can cook burgers/pasta/pizza etc, but a beef Wellington? 😧😧

I think its because they are difficult dishes so learning how to cook them well and quickly is a skill necessary to have if your going to win the grand prize. But they are also dished GR is rather know for so if you work for him better know his dishes backwards and forwards.
