5:00 "Your goose is cooked" sounds like a Canadian insult.
@NamesForDogs8 жыл бұрын
+jeenyus720 It's an old idiom, which means "you're in trouble," "you've been found out," or "your time is up." Some accounts say it derived from Aesop's The Goose That Laid the Golden Eggs. In the story, a goose lays a golden egg each day, but the farmer cuts her open hoping to find a lump of gold inside, only to find nothing but goose meat. More commonly, it's attributed to the death of Christian martyr Jan Hus, who was burned at the stake for heresy against the Catholic Church, with Hus sounding similar to the Czech husa meaning goose. Hus preached reformation of the Catholic Church and was killed for it, but his followers repelled five papal crusades. A century later, when Martin Luther was nailing his 95 Theses to the church door (partially inspired by Hus), 90% of Czechs were non-Catholic and following Hus' teachings.

According to old English law, goose is the only fowl permitted to be eaten at Christmas. This law has never been revoked, however very few English people eat geese at Christmas. We mostly eat turkey or chicken. I thought that was interesting.

Why is Gordon giving me Ainsley vibes from this particular video of his? He speaks so calmly and softly sort of lulling me to sleep much like Ainsley.

BTW - if any of you are in the US... when he says 250... he must mean Celsius... because if it's Farenheight... you'll wind up with a trip to the Emergency Room for Christmas... :) ( presume he roasts the skin for 15 minutes at 500F and then down to 375 for the rest of the cooking). :)
@blackiesun6 жыл бұрын
Of course he does... He is European and uses Celsius. Only Americans use Fahrenheit degrees... as well being the only ones to measure stuff with cups lol.

Oven starts off at 350 anyways :D

Hatim Abbassi its not. I hunt geese and honestly you can either cook it in a crock pot for 24 hours with bbq sauce or make jerky

+Billy Handsome Actually goose is delicious and tender. What you're referring to is wild goose, a bird that flies, so, it's tough.

I'm suprised how simple this recipe is, goose recipes are very convoluted most of the time.

Anyone can be a culinary expert in the youtube comment section. All you have to do is criticize an actual world-famous chef, and disregard the fact that you don't actually know a damn thing they're doing, or what you're even criticizing them for.
