Handlebar closed in 2009 shortly after the revisit episode was filmed and the restaurant was sold. The restaurant reopened in 2010 as Skybox Restaurant and Sports Bar, which closed in 2011. The restaurant later opened as Benchwarmers Tavern and Grill, a sports bar and it is still open with better reviews than it's predecessors. Sadly, Billy passed away from cancer in November 2015. Cancer is a bitch. RIP

@@starblaiz1986 I think with a lot of the restaurants on this show they go back to the old way because it's cost cutting. They go back to using the same old cheap frozen crap because it's cheap. It's a case of getting the production company to make the place over, get new free equipment and fittings etc to maximise the value of the building. Couple that with milking the public for 6 months and sell up. I think most have no plans to make an actual go of the place they just want to minimise their losses and get out. It's a win for the production company they have a show to sell, it's a win for the restaurant owner they get to dump an unwanted business with minimal loss. The only losers are the suckers who go to the place expecting a decent experience because the show gives the impression the place is decent now.

It's the american type editing.. don't believe everything you saw, there's lot of that in kitchen nightmare's episodes but in reality they talked way more, but for example if gordon was talking they would filmed steven while he was quiet, then filmed gordon and during editing they've put thoses shots together to create this mood and make it look like both were silent and staring at eachother or avoiding eye contact. same for Masterchef and most american shows so in reality during the awkward moment the other answered and had a normal chat, but for tv it's better to make a bit of "drama" if you could call it that.

I wonder how many restaurants are still open. I remember googling out of curiosity but that was pre covid and even then only a dozen were left. I was sad over every restaurant that closed (except Amy's backing company)

I found out on Google that among all of 109 Restaurants in Kitchen Nightmares Episode only 21 that's still opening, 16 for US versions and 5 for UK versions. Even worse, the entire restaurants in Season 2 US version are closed.

I feel like as more people started to like her cooking, she grew more passion for the job. She may not like the cooking part of the job, but she liked seeing people enjoy her food.

She probably applied for the job because hey, pay boost, and got the job because . . . y'know what, with the kind of chefs we see on this show, I can believe that she was actually the best out of the ones who applied. Also she's notable for being one of the few chefs who made an initial dish that Gordon actually liked.

Probably she joined as some easier job like assistant cook or somethinh like that. And they have no one so just promoted her against her wish. She said herself "I am not creative". She just wanted to do whatever chef tell her and chill, no responsibility, but they made her chef and she needed job, broke under pressure of chef's responsibility.

I'm actually glad the place still open even after a year gordon visited the restaurant, that's kinda rare to happen in kitchen nightmare history tho Edit : i already knew that most of the restaurants in KN are closed. But the fact that they still open after a year is really nice, because so many restaurants are closed not long after the episode aired. They only open for like a month, a week, or even right after the episode aired, which is sad to see.

it closed shortly after this episode in 2009. in 2010 it re opened as a sports bar which then closed again. 2011 it re opened as another sports bar which had way better reviews than it had back then and it’s still open. sadly though, Billy died in 2015 due to cancer

I don't understand how people who own these failing restaurants hire head chefs who don't know how to cook/have no passion for cooking. I mean, I understand owning and running a restaurant is difficult. I get that it takes a lot of hard work and you're bound to make mistakes... but I don't understand how they hire and pay these people and then don't understand where the problems are coming from. How is it that out of all the applicants who applied for that job, he ended up hiring the one person who didn't want to be a chef at all? It's baffling.
