#shorts The Gordon setter's origins may be traced back to the 1600s. However, by the end of the
century, the 4th Duke of Gordon had established his own recognized breed. For some time, the
Duke was more concerned with how well his dogs performed than their appearance. Thus, his
kennels lodged and worked setters of many colors, including black and white, red and white,
and tri-color - known as the Duke of Gordon's Setters.
