the one thing that truly paired this insane experience together is the OST. The OST is incredible. It is ominous, it is horrifying, it also feels like Yuka made it because its mocking you like Gore frequently does. Ill never forget a uh, lot of the traumatizing scenes i witnessed but it was worth it for the story.

Honestly I found Metawo's other works to be a bit too much even for me, but Gore is so over the top and eccentric that it kinda made this VN work for me. Sadistic Blood and Dead Aegis both felt kinda monotonous with their gory scenes, but Gore being so unabashedly insane and campy really made them work for me in this one.

what a coincidence, i just started this vm earlier this afternoon. haven't been able to put it down and didn't get my work finished lol im almost done the common route, and following the akane route. im not huge on the school bully being such a dislikeable character but i hope the vn ends up exploring him, and showing me that he's not just a nasty guy for the sake of being nasty. also almost finished raging loop, started reading it as per you recommendation. Looking forward to the next upload.

Honestly I was a bit let down by Yuka's route. Probably because my expectations went wrong from the previous routes. I expected way more clashes between Kyoji's daily life and Yuka's warped love. It felt like he was sleepwalking 90% of the route. For example, Yamiko pointed out that he stopped playing the guitar. Instead of just giving up completely, he could've brought it to the mansion and play for Yuka instead of having sex all days. I'd love other details like that where he tried to find loopholes to reconcile his world's and Yuka's. Anyhow, my favorite moment when playing is the whiplash between Akane's and Aoi's route. I did NOT expect their confrontation halves to be that different.

I thought there were plenty of clashes in Yuka's route. Kyoji still feels pretty active to me, though the route is a bit on the shorter side so maybe that's why he feels like sleepwalking for most of it. I will agree the guitar thing would've made a nice scene. Still, I kind of understand what they're going for. Since Kyoji abandoning the guitar is a symbol of him trying to ditch his life behind for Yuka, which is why he went back to playing it in the true ending once he manage to help her and overcome all their issues

Hooooo. This is indeed a big surprise. Last year I was looking for this novel but only came across a partial patch. I never thought it would be officially released on Steam ((and this must feel like a stab for fans of Chaos;Head Noah knowing that this novel didn't have so many complications to be released on Steam haha)... Thanks for the review and with the fact that it has many H scenes at least I hope it gives me chills like some H scenes in Saya no Uta Now all that remains is for Rumbling Hearts to come out and my life will be done

Just started this yesterday because of course this would be the first giveaway anything I won in five years. Finished all Akane endings and done the first Aoi bad end. It kinda gets less scary once ManBearPig and its Stand user (glad I'm not the only one thinking "wait, is this basically just JoJo where no one but the antagonist has a Stand with Silent Hill powers?" ever since Yoshiki vs Yuka in Akane route) has an active role in the story. The intro up to the confrontation at the well was the scariest shit for me. Going into Aoi route, it feels a lot less scary after Akane's route turned into a weird nukige at the end. The story and character is really interesting though. Despite the outlandish premises, I like how believable and natural everyone's reaction is. It's an interesting character drama, and although I just started it out of obligation after winning the giveaway, I think I'll take the time to finish it because it grips my attention and curiosity now.

@@TheAugustHail Is it just Akane route, or is it all route, and is it just as jarring as Akane's route or generally more apt like Aoi's early bad end? Aoi's early bad end was kinda gratuitous, but it has decent characterization and irony to it that I don't mind it. Akane's last stretch was just "why are you making me aroused-- shouldn't you be trying to get me scared or feel bad or something???"

Kiika's route is the sane way, but she's got a very specific case on why. (A but repetitive but the point is still there) For Akane, this is what I wrote in my notes: "Weird power trip of a dream sequence. Makes logical sense for Yuka-Akane to become a nympho. Intended to dissuade Koiji from liking Akane by making her a slut. Also fulfills Yuka's love urges while doing so."

(Spoilers ahead) After reading all of GSS I have to say that it's one of my favorite VNs of all time. That being said, the one thing that I would say is an extreme blemish on the VN for me is the random and excessive rape scenes that plague the bad endings and make zero sense. For example, during Misono's route, when Kyoji chooses not to forgive Gore instead of heading to the school immediately, the same exact events that play out during the good ending happen during the bad ending except for the fact that Misono gets raped twice. Now, if during the good ending Kyoji came to the bathroom stall and stopped the guys from raping Misono, then I would have less of a problem with the scene actually occurring in the bad ending, because it would show an actual consequence for Kyoji being an idiot. However, if you decide to choose the choice to go to the school immediately Kyoji STILL wouldn't have made it in time to stop what would've happened, but somehow it just magically doesn't occur. So what's the point of showing that? Is it to fill the reader with disgust for the sake of it? To my understanding there's no story to get from it. The same can be said for what happened to Akane in one of Aoi's bad endings. I understand that this is not unique to GSS, but it's definitely one of the least sensible portrayals of this concept. I feel like some of this stuff is just to appeal to some of the readers who are into that type of stuff, but it's definitely not for me. Is there something about the story of those endings I don't understand, or am I reading into it too much? Let me know!

Honestly, looking at the CGs of this game, it's surprisingly tame compared to other visual novels these creators have made. For a game with the word "gore" in the title, i expected more creativity than "tentacles and intestines".

I think - especially with other character routes where the erotic scenes sincerely are more visually demonstrative to the themes and discussions this eroge probes into - they could patch in a filter setting for text and visuals like what is already, ironically enough considering the title, enmeshed into the settings menu with the resident gore filter rather than deciding not to finish/feature them at all??? wtf??? Unless you have already watched the video essay - if so, then, _yeah!_ - I can recommend Amelie Doree's hour-long essay on GSS with due to the added time and the more introspectively personal style is able to get a lot more heavy and profound on the characters, plot and themes if that is still something that intrigues you, with all of the erotic scenes(and gore) censored for the standard reasons of creating videos for KZbin. In the instance of desiring to _view_ if you're not also wanting to interact with the gore, then, the best suggestion I can implore is to search up the more bloodily visceral cutscenes/sprites. I'll finish with that I can at least recommend listening to the ost; including the op and eds.

@@gabrielg4627 It obviously hurts the story and massively. The steam version is basically the common route plus just a bit of Akane's route. Her full route, Aoi, Kiika and the last 2 routes are completely gone. It's basically a gloried Demo. As its missing.. a good 90% of the story. You can get an uncensor path for free from JAST USA, so just get that. If you are not comfortable with the gory stuff, the game comes with its own censor setting that lets you obscure/censor the pictures, the descriptions or both, as well as not censor anything.

My problem with this novel is the fact that if you don't make dumb choices - you don't really see much fucked up shit. I knew exactly what this novel is before playing, so I was expecting a real gore show. I completed it once, Akane route good ending and I barely saw any gore. And honestly, why would I even try to mess things up? I don't want this girl to get hurt. In this regard, my favorite Saya no Uta works better. It doesn't matter which ending you get, it's equally fucked up and violent
