Did Herod (the first one) have daughters?
@GoreBruce6 жыл бұрын
It sticks in my mind that Herod did have one or more daughters, but of course, in the ancient world, daughters were regarded as less worthy of mention than sons, and so they don't get much attention. (Please don't shoot the messenger!).

Not sure of the point of your question. The massacre is only mentioned in the New Testament, but is fully compatible with the insane paranoia that took over the man's life toward the end. I personally believe the massacre happened as reported, and is evidence of Herod's descent into madness before his death.

Bruce thank you for your response I found this presentation interesting particularly at the end in the comparing of Herod to Yeshua; and when I explain the motives for my researching Herod and his line you may get a chuckle as well. I am convinced Jerusalem is mystery Babylon, I won't go into the argument as to why, but as John is writing Revelation likely some time shortly before the city is sacked he is witnessing the sixth king of a line five have been and the sixth is. This is the last king to rule from that line until the antichrist. That king would have been Herod Agripa II. But I am trying to confirm that he was legitimately the sixth of the line to have been named King of the Jews, and specifically would have ruled over Jerusalem as King. I also found a reference to a connection between the Herodians and the Davidic line after Herod the Great and I would be curious to know if there was any link to Antigonus descendants that you might be aware of. Oh, one comment here to do with the wailing wall, I am reasonably sure that is a foundation wall of fort Antonio Yeshua did say not one stone upon another and He is very literal. There is as well some compelling archaeological finding. Thank you again for your response.
@GoreBruce6 жыл бұрын
I'm persuaded that Jerusalem is the Babylon of Revelation, as I argue elsewhere. The kingly line in Judea was interrupted after Archelaus (6 a.d.) and that makes your hypothesis about the line of kings problematic. The more common view is that it refers to the 'kings' of Rome. The Wailing Wall was not part of the original temple structure. Thanks again for your interest.
@patrickedgington58276 жыл бұрын
Bruce, I don't mean to be a pest and if I am imposing please let me know. I do understand the popular view differs from what I am proposing, but then the popular view in many circles also says God is dead. My own view is that if true the popular view would and does introduces a logical inconsistency; the source of which even in its earliest conception seems to be a bias that sees the Jewish people as elect, and as such this enemy of God would necessarily be an enemy of Israel, not its king. However, logically he couldn’t be any one else but their king and be called anointed. Only Israel is waiting for a messiah. Yeshua said I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive. As for the Herodian line are you saying the information in the following article is incorrect? I pasted it from a wiki page. The Herodian Dynasty was a royal dynasty of Idumaean (Edomite) descent, ruling the Herodian Kingdom and later the Herodian Tetrarchy, as vassals of the Roman Empire. The Herodian dynasty began with Herod the Great, who assumed the throne of Judea, with Roman support, bringing down the century long Hasmonean Kingdom. His kingdom lasted until his death in 4 BCE, when it was divided between his sons as a Tetrarchy, which lasted for about 10 years. Most of those tetrarchies, including Judea proper, were incorporated into Judaea Province from 6 CE, though limited Herodian de facto kingship continued until Agrippa I's death in 44 CE and nominal title of kingship continued until 92 CE, when the last Herodian monarch, Agrippa II, died and Rome assumed full power over his de jure domain.
@GoreBruce6 жыл бұрын
Archaleus was deposed in 6 a.d., and from that point on, Judea was under a series of Roman procurators. Galilee, Perea, and Iturea remained under the control of Herod's sons, Antipas and Philip. Agrippa I, son of Aristobulus (son of Herod who was executed by Herod) was appointed nominal king under Caligula (37-41) and died in 44 (Acts 12). Agrippa II succeeded his father but fled during the Jewish revolt (66-70). I don't know if that advances your thesis or not. I'll leave that to you.
@patrickedgington58276 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure at this point either Bruce but I will look at it further thank you again for taking the time to respond and for the information.

It seems like in America everyone is listening to the Herod in them. Like how Herod tried getting himself into the Jew’s good graces. Many pastors and churches sell themselves to the pagans saying that God is okay with certain sins that He clearly condemns, and by claiming you don’t need Jesus, or Christianity to fester Heaven, as He supposedly exists in every religion and you find Him by just living virtuously in whatever faith you choose. They are also and even more so controlled by an inner Herod in that everyone seems to solve their problems with a shouting contest. When it comes to opinions especially politics, everyone is insistent on shouting their views over their opponent’s views. They also like Herod are prone to violence and want death and suffering on those who don’t share their opinions. Finally as Herod seemed to want to have two beloved people killed on his death just to spite those who hated him and force them to cry. Many people today are sometimes just prone to petty acts of spite because of some people being justifiably unsupportive.

Herod the Great was a descendant of Esau on both sides as the Arabs were descendants of Esau & his cousin/wife, Basemath, niece of his Dad, Isaac & daughter of his Uncle Ishmael... We know that Herod, as a descendant of Esau, was not God's ordained choice to be the king of the Jews as God chose Jacob (out of Isaac's 2 sons) to bless & Judah (out of Jacob's kids) from whence to derive the Kingly Line of Judea ultimately culminating with Jesus Christ....
