Minor correction, the Aftermath split cards like Mouth // Feed are actually read "X TO Y", not "X and Y" like you said in the video. Cut to Ribbons, Commit to Memory, etc. Love the videos, they've made me interested in the format again. The way you break down all the different tactics of the deck really elucidates the deckbuilding process. Congrats on the meteoric growth, it's deserved!

I was waiting for someone to post a budget Goreclaw deck tech, because she's exactly the budget commander that midrange green stompy needed. She turns some slightly underwhelming or overcosted beaters into cheap threats. Nice job! The bounce creatures and Myr Superion are neat tech. I hadn't thought of reusing creatures that way. I think Karametra's Acolyte definitely earns a place in a Goreclaw deck, especially because she has the potential to go infinite with Sabertooth and Guardian if you have at least seven devotion, which if you have Goreclaw + Sabertooth + Acolyte + Guardian in play, you definitely do. Ulvenwald Tracker is a natural fit here too, because the deck currently lacks ways to remove creatures. Somberwald Stag seems wimpy, but if you think about it, it costs three with Goreclaw in play, and can trade with some of the most popular commanders and utility creatures in the format. Foerazer Regent is also a shoo-in, because not only does it fight, but whenever a creature you control fights, it gets bigger at EOT. Finally, Arena is just too good in a stompy deck. Yes, your opponent gets to choose what they lose, but if things are working properly, you have the biggest creatures on the field, and you just traded no cards of yours for one of theirs. There will always be games where someone has a bigger creature, whether it's an Avacyn or an Eldrazi Titan. I really like Lignify for those situations, or Song of the Dryads if budget permits. You have Fierce Empath in here, but no Woodland Bellower! I understand the omission because of budgetary constrictions, but Bellower is just insane. It can fetch Empath, it can fetch a mana dork, or any other useful utility creature, and put them directly into play. Ulvenwald Observer is great tech for this deck. I also would've considered Whisperwood Elemental, which is similar, but gives us attackers for the crackback. On a related note, I think Genesis makes its way into reasonable upgrades as one of the most difficult recursion engines to remove. As far as card advantage, your package is solid. Greater Good definitely deserves a spot in reasonable upgrades, and I'd even make a case that it belongs in the maindeck. Since it was reprinted in Battlebond, it's become way more accessible for budget players. I picked one up to play in my budget Yasova threaten deck, and it's been one of my best value:power purchases in a long time. Soul's Majesty and Rishkar's Expertise are insane in Goreclaw, but Expertise may run you out of budget. Lastly, I can't stop hyping up Uncage the Menagerie. Yes, we lose tempo by tapping out for it most of the time, but think about it: you cast it for X=5, and tutor five five-drops? In a slow format like casual EDH? Shut the front door... Other random cards I think deserve a spot in some version of this deck are: Sylvan Safekeeper Prowling Serpopard Rhonas the Indomitable Selvala, Heart of the Wilds Terastodon

I had built an EDH deck around Goreclaw. It was a mean deck. I had put Vivian Reed and the Amonkhet/HoD Precon Nissa in the deck to provide either free creatures with Nissa and Indestructible buff creatures with Vivian. Wild Onslaught kicked for 2 +1/+1 counters on everything. Helm Of The Host to duplicate Goreclaw (which is a lot of fun). Gigantasaurus. Big Worms and Kavu, including Crush Of Worms. Overrun and Overcome. Grunn, The Lonely King and Blackblade Reforged (makes for a big pig-sticking threat when combined). Gaea's Blessing for mill protection. And some fight spells for light removal. It got brutal. Just as brutal as the deck mentioned in this video.

I also chanced upon a Goreclaw from my packs, and now I feel like bringing out my inner Timmy. :)

Wolfbriar Elemental would be an awesome include. The discount would make it two green and any other green after that gets you a 2/2 Wolf. It also works well with the creatures that make you bounce a creature back to your hand as you can keep getting tokens.

Absolutely great EDH deck tech. However, one card I want to highlight is a card called Bow of Nylea. Since it gives attacking creatures deathtouch it gives Goreclaw and your other beaters trample deathtouch. That makes it incredibly hard to block and be a pretty good finisher. Love the cheep deck so thank you for showing it off. ^^

Might want to add Prowling Serpopard, nothing better then making your creatures uncounterable. Champion of Lambholt would be a decent option as putting out that many creatures that quick could potentially make them unblockable to nearly everything. Predator Ooze cause who doesn't like an indestructible thing that can get bigger Bow of Nylea to give Deathtouch to all your attackers and one of the 4 modes in its second ability are always useful. And a slightly more expensive upgrade Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger.
@TheCommandersQuarters6 жыл бұрын
All great considerations!
@pietromasneri28726 жыл бұрын
also spearpreaker behemoth is great, he doesn' t even cost much and can give indestructible to every big creature for only 1 mana
@TheCommandersQuarters6 жыл бұрын
Great consideration as well!
@thedanath6 жыл бұрын
Ooze not getting the cost reduction from goreclaw is a minor thing as you should have plenty of mana to get a GGG cost out on a mono coloured deck. as for the Bow attacking with creatures that have deathtouch means your opponent ether does not block or loses one of his own creatures. And iv used the gain 3 life and +1/+1 counter abilities tons of times, with the ocasional gravyard recursion to the bottom of my library.

What, was "Bear Necessities" too obvious? Jokes aside, a card I really think would do wonders in this deck is Decimator of Provinces. The average price I've seen for it hovers around 30 cents so it's budget-friendly, and its Emerge mechanic makes it cost next to nothing because of all the high CMC creatures in the list as is. It's even a perfect target for Conduit of Ruin, which, if sacced, makes Decimator only cost 3 green! All that for a hasty, trampling 7/7 with an anthem affect. Edit: fixed a few spelling errors and reworded some of it.
@TheCommandersQuarters6 жыл бұрын
Haha I can't believe I missed that one! And decimator of provinces is a great consideration for the deck!

Worldspine wurm or Grunn, Lonely king would be good too

Another good tech card to add to this deck would be siege behemoth, basically if you alpha strike with him all the damage is going through unless they can fog or prevent combat damage. Cause blocking will do little to stop you.

Yep! A great card to consider!
@LeKrutes6 жыл бұрын
I played him. You want bellowing tangleworm. You want to play as many creatures as you can. Bellowing makes your creatures unblockable most of the time and is a direct effect. Siege behemoth takes a turn and kost 5 even with the reduction.

What about adding Grothama Alldevouring? With Gorclaw out, it's a 2 mana 10/8 and with it out, you can either smack people for a bunch of damage or have your creatures fight it to draw a bunch of cards. Another card I would think about is abundenance as it let's you choose whether or not you're going to draw that land that you need to ramp. Best part is Grothama is barely over a dollar and Abundance is about 50 cents
@TheCommandersQuarters6 жыл бұрын

Question: can you create a few episodes on deckbuilding in itself? How to pinpoint a focus of commander, how to seek appropriate cards, how to build manabase, etc. Brawl deck may be created to illustrate process step by step(less cards required and lesser cardpool to get lost into. All so, an OK possible entry point for a real edh).
@TheCommandersQuarters6 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! I have been planning to do an episode or even episodes on the deckbuilding process. I need to find some time in between all of the deck techs, but I will make time in the near future!
@ЭрикКартман-ч4ю6 жыл бұрын
Nice. What are your thoughts on a brawl format? I think, if it catches up, wizards would design more commanderesque cards in standard sets(hopefully, replacing the mandatory bad ones).
@TheCommandersQuarters6 жыл бұрын
Honestly I think it will fade away in the near-ish future. One of the main things that people like about Commander is that it is a non-rotating format, and since Brawl rotates, that is a huge knock against it.
@berbergian4 жыл бұрын
In a mono colour budget deck I think you may as well include radiant fountain. It comes in untapped and you gain 2 free life. The colorless mana doesn’t even really hurt you in a deck like this
@LeKrutes6 жыл бұрын
Thx, it help me build my goreclaw edh deck without a budget. I have so many good green cards that the decks becomes way to exspensive mana wise to play normaly. I made a primal surge deck out of it.
@igorgrecia39156 жыл бұрын
Hey, really like the channel and I hope everything just gets better for you! An idea that might be worth at least a thought would be doing some videos on "budget staples". Cards that go into a lot of decks, like Sol Ring, are usually a nice chunk of the $25 restriction, but once you have a copy, basically all of your decks would be better with it so it's really worth the little investment. Another thing you could also do is some kind of series on some core budget cards for some strategy, like Domineering Will, Reins of Power and Illusionist's Gambit as that's a nice little package that usually makes any deck a bit better.
@TheCommandersQuarters6 жыл бұрын
That’s a great idea! Have something like that planned for the near-ish future! Great minds think alike ;)

Love your videos. Just getting back into magic and bears are my favorite animals so definitely going to be building this deck but was wondering if you could do an updated version of the deck with some of the newer cards. Keep up the great work

I'd add Brutalizer Exarch to this asap. 6 drop 3/3 that etb tutors for a creature or puts a non-creature permanent on the bottom of a player's library. With return to hand effects this card can be broken. And with Soul of the Harvest out you can pick when the etb effects trigger allowing you to put that tutored card right into your hand. Or Brutalizer Exarch at the end of your opponent's turn if you have that all green creatures have flash elf out. 😁

I was kinda surprised Drumhunter didn't make the list as a low-cost option to get a little draw and (overcosted) ramp.

Pathbreaker ibex would be awesome in this deck. Basically just a repeatable overwhelming stampede

With all the card draw in this, I would definitely recommend throwing in a Reliquary Tower.

Not a bad consideration for a reasonable upgrade!

Could you see Aboroth slotting into this deck somewhere? 9/9 for 4 and two green; cumulative upkeep - put a -1/-1 counter on Aboroth. With the commander in play that’s a 9/9 for 4 cmc. Could be good, just an idea. It’s in the reserved list but it’s about 55-60 cents on TCGPlayer.
@TheCommandersQuarters6 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately with the cumulative upkeep I don't think he's worth it. First attack he will be down to an 8/8, then a 6/6 then a 3/3. I think there are better options out there. Even Terra Stomper would be better, and that didn't even make the cut.

The Commander's Quarters I wasn’t thinking about the upkeep compounding, duh.

Keep up the good work! Been subbed since you were around 400 subs and love every video! Do you play test these decks or are they just “theory”? Also are all of your budget decks close in power rating against each other?
@TheCommandersQuarters6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for being there since the beginning! I playtest them quite a bit actually, but for the one's that I don't actually own those are goldfishing for the most part. Once I can do this full time though, I will be working to make sure I can test each and every deck to the amount that I really want to. I would say most are around the same power level, but Jhoira is definitely above the rest. Muldrotha may be around there as well depending on the meta.

The Commander's Quarters that’s really great to hear! Hopefully you’ll be full-time soon, especially at the rate your growing! Good luck Mitch, and keep up the great work!
