Hey, just a quick suggestion to the upgrade section. I feel like it would be relatively simple and yet extremely helpful to add what cards to replace with each upgrade at the end, I know I have a hard time choosing what cards to take out a lot of the time.
@TheCommandersQuarters6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the suggestion! I will definitely take it into consideration, but my only hesitation is that people may take these suggestions as hard facts. My approach to the upgrades and what I hope with people can do with them, is to make adjustments based on their own playstyle. Does that make sense?

@@TheCommandersQuarters Yeah of course, I get why you'd do that. So, like, a month ago I was just really getting into magic. Spending money, looking at standard meta, things of the sort. Then I discover the various formats. I was skeptical about Commander (or EDH whatever) because while building a 100 card deck out of a multi-thousand card pool sounds very hard, yet fun. Did 2 1v1 games with this deck and I must say I had a blast! First one was vs. the precon cat commander that is undefeated in my playgroup and it won. Those huge indestructeble kittens had nothing to help themselves. against Vaevictis. Second game was vs. a control aminatu deck where I didn't manage to get any decent steam up and started the game with to many 7-12 drops to make things comfortable. A wheel effect would have been truly great at that time. I might add some wheel effect into the deck to get rid of my hand and get things into the library again if I have 12 mana eldrazi on hand and nothing to do.

Strionic Resonator would fit nice in the upgraded version while Gutter Grime is an enchantment that has a somewhat similar function to Mitotic Slime although it does not help re-trigger itself unfortunately. Revel in Riches can help ramp enough to be able to cast any of the huge stuff that ended in your hand and u can't cheat them out. Plus it is an alternative win con that will distract your opponent's from dealing with your big stuff. All in all very interesting deck that embodies perfectly the Jund mentality of chaos and destruction. It must be really fun to play with and even against it cause it is quite unpredictable since no one knows what will be revealed from each library's top every time. I would like to see a Thantis (the Jund spider from C18 that everyone but me hates) deck tech built around forcing everyone to attack while u have a board with deathtouchers which will prevent them to some degree from attacking you. I want to see if such a deck can actually be classified as focused since my version is definitely not lol.

Other cards I like are reassembling skeleton. It says that you can cast it for 2 from the graveyard. There is also a 1 drop card from tarkir that has a raid ability to do that. Both of these act like phytotitan for a nearly free sacrifice. A great card for any deck that messes with the graveyard and has the mana for it is champion of stray souls. He has a power that costs five and tapping him to sacrifice ANY number of creatures you control, then return that many creatures from the graveyard. He has a second ability that puts him on top of your deck. In order to get Vaevictus the first time, you need at least six mana, so it is very likely that you can afford it. Vaevictus likes cards that do things when they enter/die, plus you can choose the best cards in your graveyard for your most expendable on the field. With the first two cards and phytotitan out, or any of the token folk, he can pull more creatures out than you put in. Currently he is under 50¢, so he is a budget card. I would also like to point out how much power comes from butcher of malakir when you sacrifice six or so creatures at once. If you have grave betrayal, you win.

Man, I've been following your channel for a while now and these budget decks just never seize to amaze me. However Vaevictis Asmadi surely takes the cake for me, chances are I'll be building him after I'm done with my Niv-Mizzet, Dracogenius. Keep up the good work! :D

Nullstone Gargoyle seems like a great include here, since you can cheat the mana cost and you mostly don't even cast your big stuff at all.
@TheCommandersQuarters6 жыл бұрын
Definitely a consideration! But there are times later in the game when you could be wanting to cast a big creature from your hand, so you would have to be careful in building while including Nullstone
@FullPlateJacket6 жыл бұрын
Nullstone Gargoyle only counters non-creature spells though. It really works with the composition of the deck, the only concern is enchantments/artifacts and you can still get those out with top-of-deck manipulation.

My apologies! Misremembered the card! Agreed

I have a Vaevictus deck. Probably not budget to the same extent, because I also run Scorpion God and Sheoldred. The former gets a lot of extra draws, and the latter really helps keep the board clear, whilst providing sac outlets. Scorpion God itself can be a sac outlet, especially if you put a -1/-1 counter on himself.

I own a couple cards that each would combo awesome with the Vaevictis trigger and the It That Betrays Trigger. Grave Pact or Dichead of Erebos. I don't tend to play em enough because they get targeted quick. Of course now if I play black opponents tend to save removal for these cards. I need to get me It That Betrays for this deck when it comes.
@TheCommandersQuarters6 жыл бұрын
Yeah those are always top targets. It That Betrays is crazy good in this deck!
@tommylanders19976 жыл бұрын
It That Betrays has one of my favorite rules interactions where is your opponent sacrifices their Commander you still gain control of it, even if it goes to the command Zone
@TheCommandersQuarters6 жыл бұрын
That is a nasty interaction!

YAY NEW VID and asmodi is so much fun too :) Cant wait for the next one. Been looking at a lot of content discussing underused edu cards and theres a bunch I never even thought of, cards like foil and lotus vale,altar of the brood. Also every deck that doesnt include curse of the swine make me cry Mitch. Why do you do this to me? Curse of the swine is the golden pig of every deck forever *oink*
@TheCommandersQuarters6 жыл бұрын
Haha well I couldn’t include it in this one since it’s blue ;)
@locke3486 жыл бұрын
Also I was gunna say you and voidmage gamer should do a colab would be sick between the two of you. ALSO great idea you should make a pair of $25 decks for a commander two headed giant format kinda like battlebond or something. Would be awesome. Love the vid and cant wait to build this deck. Hopefully one day I can be a patron too.

That would be pretty cool! And thank you for your support in any form :)

Out of curiosity, have you considered an Admiral Beckett Brass deck? There're a handful of budget decklists out there for her but I'm curious to see what you would do.

Interesting direction to slot in a lot of the "top of library" cards. Looking at your T/O page though, the average CMC is over 4. Even with your ramp package, I think the deck may run into situations where you just have a lot of fatties in hand early in the game, and just get out-valued by your opponents who play a good curve. The 4 and 5 CMC spots are pretty weak here, and I think they could be filled with value creatures that have either ETB or death triggers. Otherwise I think this is pretty solid.

Definitely something to test and evaluate for yourself, and adjust to your playstyle!
