Great video! it is a wild environment but beautiful as you say and your Mum and Dad have managed to survive with their skills and talents which is something we could all learn from. Always enjoy catching up!

I'm actually imagining myself living in that kind of place and playing my acoustic guitar, maybe I will just bring 20 sets of strings and I'm done I wont need internet or tv, just me and my guitar with my dog in my side.

Hi Chris..I live in the North West of Western Australia in an area that gets more than it's fair share of Cyclones...Just wondering how your family's home has held up over the years with severe storms and have you ever experienced Cyclonic weather in Gorge River ? Cheers
@WildKiwiAdventurer5 жыл бұрын
We have had some big storms but the width speeds are not as high as in cyclones.
@WildKiwiAdventurer5 жыл бұрын
We had a large storm last year and the wind wasn't actually that bad but the ocean was very big

Another good video but just one comment that sometimes your captains are too short in duration and gone before I had noticed them and was able to read them also they could be more visible, placed against the backdrop that highlights them better. Otherwise keep up good work Thanks

is the gorge river facing the pacific or facing australia? if it's facing the pacific, expect regular big storms but not so much if it's facing australia since gorge is located in the southern part of new zealand, cyclones may not pass that area am i correct? note: there will be bigger storms / massive torrential rains during "el niño" & "la niña" season 2019 is "el niño" season
@WildKiwiAdventurer5 жыл бұрын
We face towards Australia but we are far south so we are in the roaring forties, so the westerly winds that go around the globe hit us very hard. In new Zealadn the east coast facing the pacific is more sheltered. El Nino usually gives us bad weather, lots of westerlies, but this year so far has been very nice weather
@nzsl3685 жыл бұрын
@@WildKiwiAdventurer i really thought new zealand facing australia is "more sheltered" than the one facing the pacific thanks for the surprising info!
@WildKiwiAdventurer5 жыл бұрын
@@nzsl368 just google an image of the prevailing winds of the world and you will see. We are the same as the west coast of Tasmania

Watching the swells makes you feel alive!! Has your garden and house ever been flooded? Is there a real danger of erosion forcing you to move higher up ?
@WildKiwiAdventurer5 жыл бұрын
There is a little bit erosion infront of the house but there is more along the middle of the airstrip. We have never been flooded in the garden or house

DO YOU OWN THE LAND BY THERE TO BUILD A HOUSE?
@WildKiwiAdventurer4 жыл бұрын
We have a hut licence from the government to have a house there, we didn't build the house, it had been abandoned in 1975.
