In the song "Tick Tack, Tick Tack, du bist alt" translates to "tic tock, tic tok, you are old" The passage, "Zick Zack, Zick Zack, schneid das ab," means "snip, snip, cut that off."

Nothing beats there live shows. Got to see them in 2022 in America. Missed their tour in Europe last summer but 5hey are touring 8n Europe again this summer. If you have a chance do not miss them. They even had a plane fly over beaches in summer 2022 saying “ if you think it is hit now, wait till Rammstein arrives.”

What i love about Rammstein is that they very very rarely give interviews and never explain their music. Sometimes they talk to some youtubers or small music magazins . But you will never see them sitting in talkshows faking philosophy about their "massage". They just dont need that kind of attention.

The line "needle, string, scissors, light" is a reminiscence to "knife, fork, scissors, light" from Heinrich Hoffmann's Struwwelpeter (Shockhead Peter), which shows Till Lindemann's affinity to classic German lyrics and fairy tales. Also, Rammstein is authentic and have a "take no prisoners" approach. They don't care and always push the boundaries. I just love them.

"Licht" (light) refers to open flames (candles, oil lamps, ...), a very outdated usage of that word (only surviving in the word ""Teelicht/"tealight candle"). This also explains why forks are in that lineup, as it's older than modern eating forks. Cooking forks are quite pointy.

Been a big fan of Rammstein since discovering them in German class my freshman year of HS, so 20 years ago (wow...) and this song may now be my favorite of theirs. My German isn't great but "der Penis sieht jetzt wieder Sonne" translates into something like "now the penis gets to see the sun again". And you were spot on about the pain involved, another one of the lines "doch ohne Schmerzen geht es nicht" means "But without pain it doesn't work". One of the other funny lines "Botox rein bis ins Gehirn" I believe means "Botox injected straight into the brain." And at the end the cat was eating a part of Till's face.

The lyrics are really what sets Rammstein songs apart, they usually can have multiple deeper meanings so you really need to learn the words and what different things they can mean, to see the complete meaning of the songs context. Add to that awesome music that just kicks ass.... Also to note is that in general metal music quite often deals with much deeper topics than the general pop music...

Another few Rammstein videos to watch are "Keine Lust" (the band members are portrayed as having done everything possible, and so have no desire for anything else), and "Radio" (about censorship, German radio in particular). As for Till being up for anything, there's two videos for his song "Ach so gern" from his second solo album, "Frau und mann". It's the "one shot video" version you should view, and I'll just say that it's good that Till apparently enjoys pain. The song itself is quite different to what Rammstein have done, Till had his solo project to do things that are just that, and as always there's a story behind the song.

It's a song about overdoing it with plastic surgery, where people are obsessed with beautification, so much so that they go to any length to get it. Craziness of it all, where no other goal in life seems to matter anymore. Song text tells about taking out some extra ribs, pulling skin back so much that you can't blink eyes anymore, suck out the fat so that the "pen**s finally sees the Sun again". Refrain says that there's no beauty without pain nowadays, if the beauty at any cost and with any means is the goal. And how it still is fleeting, a constant race against time and what the body can take, until it eventually fails, until Botox overflows the brain.

Spot on ! Yes this is exactly what Rammstein does: Talk about all possible subjects that are out there, people in general will not talk about, since they get uncomfortable talking about them. But since Rammstein talks about really every Subject...even the very particular eerie ones, people actually start discussing them in public. So in a very convincing way Rammstein with their songs is a discussion starter about subject, people normally would have avoided to talk about. Hey Stacey, I love Rammstein! I live in the Netherlands which is located west of Germany and they have such amazing songs. I'm very curious what you think of Ren, with his song Hi Ren. That song is now a year old and with that he has really become big. He is an independent artist with many different styles under his name. I believe that the meaning behind the video is that they are mocking the fact that people get plastic surgery in order to keep looking ‘good’, despite them getting older and getting wrinkles. Zick zack also means ‘Tic toc’ as in time marches on. Later on in the video he illustrates that getting the botox in order to keep looking ‘good’, only makes you look worse and you shouldn’t do it and just embrace the way you age.

Me personally, Iam not the biggest fan of the song itself, but the message is great :) Tills loves slipping into characters. It helped him to conquer his huge stage fright in live shows if he is just portraying someone and does not have to "play" himself.
