This video was filmed on April 26, 2024.
Kintaro is always playing around so hard that he has many small wound on his body.
So Genki checked on Kintarou's wounds while he was sleeping, licked them and treated them.
After a while, Genki left, but Kintaro went to show her the wound again.

⭐️Momotaro ♂(2000/7/3)
Born in Ueno Zoo on July 3, 2000.
His father is Biju and his mother is Momoko.
His father died before he was born and he grew up never knowing his father.
He came to Kyoto City Zoo in 2010 and is now a father of two sons.
⭐️Genki ♀(1986/6/24)
Born on June 24, 1986 at the Kyoto City Zoo.
Her father is Mack and her mother is Hiromi.
When she was 10 years old, she went to Ueno Zoo for breeding purposes.
But she had a bad relationship with another female gorilla, and she injured her fingers and toes with her self-mutilation and lost a lot of weight.
When she returned to her hometown of Kyoto City Zoo, she was fine, and she lived with various male gorillas.
Then she met Momotaro and she gave birth to two lovely sons whom she lovingly raised.
Genki has a cute face with shining eyes.
⭐️Gentaro ♂(2011/12/21))
Gentaro was born at the Kyoto City zoo on Dec.21,2011,as Momotaro and Genki's first son.
Unfortunately Genki didn't have enough milk,so he was nursed by keepers for his first 10.5 months.
Now he loves his mom,and his face really looks like her.
He also loves people .
He is very close with his younger brother Kintaro and they play together almost every day.
⭐️Kintaro ♂(2018/12/19)
Kintaro was born at Kyoto City Zoo on Dec.19,2018.
He has big bright eyes and long eyebrows.
He is growing fine ,being loved by his parents and brother.

Social grooming...it's how they show their love. So special between Genki and Kintaro! 😊. I must admit though, that I'm not crazy about the drooling views and I speed past those in videos ..

Hiromi as well as the staff helped bring Genki back to life when she returned to the zoo completely broken down. Apparently Hiromi and an auntie helped bring up Genki when she was a little girl when their silverback died. Just what I've read - could be wrong. 🩷

@@LalaDepala_00 Years ago Genki was sent to another zoo to be with the silverback who was actually Momo's father. Then Momoko came and Genki had problems getting along, because the silverback apparently preferred Momoko, but Genki must have been low status in the new group dynamic as well. As we know Genki is a gentle gorilla. Momoko who lives with Hakao now, is a dominant gorilla, and the dynamic wasn't good for her. I saw an old zoo video of Genki slapping Momoko and Momoko just looked at her so they got off to a bad start I think. She lost a lot of weight and was so distressed that she self mutilated chewed off some of her fingers. Thankfully the zoo sent her back to where she is now and they, with her mother, nursed her back to health. Sadly, much later she lost her mother Hiromi at the hands of the newer silverback so she witnessed and had to go through that too. It is a testament to the zoo and Hiromi that Genki is now well adjusted. Interestingly, Momoko is Momontaro's mother.

Thanks for letting us see how much Genki cares for her youngest son. I think she would have done the same for Gentaro but he was always messing with her and hitting her. I saw Genki try to groom him a few times. But Kintaro is a glutton for attention and loves it when his mom indulges hm. Genki is so loving, bless her!

We already know how intelligent gorillas are but Kintaro was actually showing Genki where his sores were. He pointed to them then she started checking 😂 So adorable. Genki is such a good mother. I hope she can have another baby before she gets too much older. She is really in her element being a mum. ❤

The wounds sustained are probably from biting and playing with brother.

she is just grooming him. This is why the males are so interested in the female keepers, they get tickled and touched by the keepers. Genki is terrified of adult gorillas and will not touch them or go near them unless she feels a bit of esterus, though she does not actually emit esterus sighs strong enough for the males to detect.
