Kintaro loves to play with his favorite zoo keeper.
Kintaro especially likes to have his back scratched by zookeeper, and he smiles happily.
Unfortunately, I can't hear his laughter through the glass.

⭐️Momotaro ♂(2000/7/3)
Born in Ueno Zoo on July 3, 2000.
His father is Biju and his mother is Momoko.
His father died before he was born and he grew up never knowing his father.
He came to Kyoto City Zoo in 2010 and is now a father of two sons.
⭐️Genki ♀(1986/6/24)
Born on June 24, 1986 at the Kyoto City Zoo.
Her father is Mack and her mother is Hiromi.
When she was 10 years old, she went to Ueno Zoo for breeding purposes.
But she had a bad relationship with another female gorilla, and she injured her fingers and toes with her self-mutilation and lost a lot of weight.
When she returned to her hometown of Kyoto City Zoo, she was fine, and she lived with various male gorillas.
Then she met Momotaro and she gave birth to two lovely sons whom she lovingly raised.
Genki has a cute face with shining eyes.
⭐️Gentaro ♂(2011/12/21))
Gentaro was born at the Kyoto City zoo on Dec.21,2011,as Momotaro and Genki's first son.
Unfortunately Genki didn't have enough milk,so he was nursed by keepers for his first 10.5 months.
Now he loves his mom,and his face really looks like her.
He also loves people .
He is very close with his younger brother Kintaro and they play together almost every day.
⭐️Kintaro ♂(2018/12/19)
Kintaro was born at Kyoto City Zoo on Dec.19,2018.
He has big bright eyes and long eyebrows.
He is growing fine ,being loved by his parents and brother.

This is a delightful video! I would love to hold hands with these guys and give them a good scratch and rub, including Momotaro. I’d actually like to have a conversation with Momo! Gentaro looks pensive, thoughtful, and he is getting more and more beautiful. Interestingly, I understood that Genki wanted to lay down before she laid down! Then Kinty snuggled up. I guess it was nap time.

They should bring the little ape inside and someone should get in a cage with him, and brush him down. He’s not that big yet….he’s just a midget….use a soft bristled horse brush. He would like that.

You'd have to get Momotaro to trust you first. There seem to be very few humans he tolerates near Kintaro. He especially doesn't like the vets and and if he's in the enclosure at the same time he charges the barrier when they try to get a close look at his boy, which makes Kintaro run away.

So cute! Gentaro used to love being petted and scratched by his favourite lady zookeeper too, when he was younger, and would laugh in the same way. She probably can't do that with him any longer as he's too big now. I never see the keepers touching the adult gorillas in the same way, so maybe there's a no-contact rule after they reach a certain size or age. These are such phenomenally strong animals and you can see how they could unintentionally hurt the keepers if they grabbed a hand and wouldn't let go.

Genki's an good mother but she's never groomed her boys very much, so that's probably why the keepers are allowed to have contact with them in that way. It helps to relax them and builds a trusting relationship with their humans.

It’s good for them to let the keepers handle them. Not only do they get love, but if they need medical treatment they’ll be less frightened and better able to cooperate.

You couldn't do that with a lion or tiger, they are not pets, they are animals. Most keepers maintain a "hands off policy" unless medical intervention is needed. Trying to humanize them is a detrement to their species. If you're going to keep touching them, they may as well be in a circus.

Petting or scratching adult big cats, even through bars, is always out of the question; no matter how much they like their keepers there's too much risk of their predatory instincts suddenly kicking in. I don't think the keepers at this zoo are allowed to touch the gorillas like this, eg. putting their hands through the bars and scratching them, after a certain age, for their safety. But Kintaro's still just "little", relatively speaking, and the interaction with his keeper helps him to learn to trust her and humans in general. He seems to understand not to bite the keeper's hands or pull on them, that he can't play with her in the same way he plays with his brother, and that if he did hurt her there would be no more play. But I think that after the gorillas get to a certain size they can't trust them enough to risk serious injury. Momotaro could so easily break bones in the keeper's hands, without even intending to.

These gorillas are so lucky to have such lovely lady to play with them. I love watching her work with them because you can she really enjoys it and they enjoy it too. I would give anything to do what she does, it would be my dream job to work so close with these amazing animals.
