Your wish is Genki's pregnacy or Gentaro will stay longer with his family? Genki still has teeth problems. Once she gets pregnat, she won't be albe to take any dental treatments at least for two years. In a way, there is a risk that Genki's lifespan might be shortened. Additionally pregnacy and delivery after 40 years old, bones weaken, increasing the likelihood of fractures. I thought the current gorilla house would be too small for five gorillas to live together. It will depend on how the second ground is used and the concept of the new ape house that will be reconstructed. どちら希望？ゲンキの妊娠?ゲンタロウが長く家族と一緒？ ゲンキはまだ虫歯の問題を抱えています。一旦、妊娠でもすると、治療は最低2年はできなくなるかも。つまりリスクはありますね。ゲンキの寿命が縮まる可能性があります。また、40歳以降の妊娠出産は人間同様に骨が弱くなるので骨折の可能性も高まります。 今のゴリラ舎だと5頭が一緒に住むには小さすぎるかなと思います。 サブグラウンドの利用方法や、新たに再構築される新類人猿園舎の構想しだいでしょうね。

Build larger more natural open enclosure. They need to prepare for pregnancy by taking care of her teeth. Like a human would need to take care of dental needs as condition of teeth is compromised during pregnancy.

@@pedmst It is not a prolrm to build a bigger enclosure. Actually several zoos including the kyoto city zoo are scheduled to reconstruct the current enclosures. Finding a partner for Gentaro is a controversial issue. No young female gorillas in Japan. Annie will be sure to stay with her family at least for another few years.

And you are right about Genki. There are some amazing older mothers.. Freddie, Mokola, ( Momos Mom) although she’s done with babies, she’s had 5/6 wonderful kids.

I don’t think Ginki should have another baby because of her health, but I do think Gen needs to have a family of his own. Momo and Gen needs to be separated before one of them gets hurt fighting for dominance

It depends on her cavities. Once the conditions of her cavities get worse, she will be required to take some treatments but it must be impossible to be done the moment she gets pregnant. At least for two years.

Assuming she has a baby, that's not for 8 months...Kintaro is 6 this month..he will be nearly 7 by the time a newborn comes...just the age Gentaro was when Kintaro was born. This is mismatched...plus Genki's teeth issues, her age, plus the lack of space, plus Gentaro is still there....too many issues....I would say we should let Genki stay as she is...enjoy her peace (when Kintaro stops messing with her😊). Too many risks....

I would NOT want Genki to get pregnant. Im convinced her health would suffer. It's OK that Gentaro leaves, though, because we want what is best for him. 😊

That's the contraversial matter first. In reality, there is one potential candidate for Gentaro's partoner, who is Annie. However nobody knows whether the two can even meet each other.

If Genki became pregnant, it would still be a while for her gestation, no? Plus one infant gorilla can't take up that much room. I'm thinking that we do want to see Gentaro settled with a family of his own, so I'm not really sure how this would be a problem. I would hate to see Gentaro leave, but I also want to see him with his own family.

I would like Genki to become pregnant; Momo's mother had her last baby at 39. When a gorilla has their baby; that baby clings to their mom for at least 2 years. That baby doesn't require much space at that time they cling to their mom. I don't see why Gentaro would have to leave for at least a year or so; that still gives some time to find a great home for Gentaro. I know the enclosure is too small but I still see that there is time to find a home for Gentaro and a new baby to be born.

There is the second ground. In addition, several space will be available for the gorillas when the current ape house is reconstructed. Not next year but it will take a couple of years. Coz it is a big project not only for the gorillas but also for all apes.

Finding a partner for Gentaro. Building a space for Gentaro is plain sailing. Several zoos are scheduled to expand the enclosures sometime soon. On the other hand, it is uncertain whether a zoo can receive a gorilla from other zoo or other countries.
