Shabani. Shabani chases after Kiyomasa. Kiyomasa is starting to show his strength to Shabani. Yet Kiyomasa still plays with Shabani. Maybe Shabani is a little conscious of Kiyomasa as an adult male gorilla. Shabani doesn't like it when Kiyomasa gets close to Ai . Nene is spending time in a separate room away from her family. Nene's appetite has recovered. At the moment, it has not been decided when Nene will return to her family. シャバーニ。シャバーニがキヨマサを追いかけるキヨマサがシャバーニに強さをアピールしだしているそれでもキヨマサはシャバーニと遊ぶこともまだある。シャバーニがキヨマサを大人のオスゴリラとして少し意識しているのかも。シャバーニはキヨマサがアイに近づくのを嫌がる. ネネは家族と離れて別室で過ごしている。ネネの食欲は回復してきた。いまのところ、ネネがいつ家族の元へ戻るのかは決まっていない。

👋 Hi Ryan! So sorry I missed the live on two occasions 😱. Thanks for the update on the Shabani family. Unfortunately since Kiyomasa has become of age, but has nowhere to go so that he can be separated from his father Shabani naturally he is going to challenge his silverback father's authority, a sign that his hormones have kicked in. Likewise, In gorilla society, and as a primate, it is instinctual for Kiyomasa to react to Ai sexually. Therefore we should not frown upon Kiyomasa's actions. In keeping with this same subject Annie is becoming of age as well, and I hope that the zoo can come up with some sort of expansion plan that would be in the best interest of the Shabani gorilla troop. As far as Nene is concerned, it is important to take note Shabani wasn't outright "attacking" Nene, but he was compassionately, and extremely reacting to Nene dragging herself on the ground, her incontinence, as well as her inability to walk. Shabani wanted Nene to get up and walk, fight whatever illness she was plagued with so he was charging at her to motivate her to move, and so was Annie and Kiyomasa, but the two lovely children were a bit harsh with it. This was upsetting for poor Ai to witness. For this main reason zoo staff made the correct decision to separate Nene for safety reasons. Since Nene is so far advanced in her age she'll likely live out her remaining days separate from her family, but still visible to the troop. She needs to be monitored carefully to prevent her from falling and injuring herself again. As far as Shabani's health, I am sure the keepers are monitoring his loose stools, and (?) skin condition. To me Shabani never looked as if he lost any weight, but he was lounging about more often I noticed. At 418 pounds, which is his average weight, it is a good sign that he still has his appetite. I saw the video where they were picking on Nene. It broke my heart. She may be eating and stronger now, but I think she's frail due to her age. I'm sure she must have some form of arthritis. She needs to be separate for her continued safety. I don't know if gorillas understand a disability in one of their members. In the wild, Nene would probably not have survived to her age. Keep her safe. I know it may sound odd, but Nene reminds me of my grandmother when she got older and frail, so I have a special place in my heart for her.

As far as the Shabani troop, they are stressed out. It started with NeNe (the elderly female) being injured and separated from the group. In the beginning of her recovery, the group was completely separated from her. It was very upsetting for them. Kiyomasa followed Shabani like a shadow for about 2 weeks. Then Shabani was so stressed he would run Kiyomasa away. The zoo finally made it possible for the troop to be able to see her. That helped some. Now, the males are having issues. Not really coming to blows but Shabani refuses to let Kiyomasa be anywhere around Ai. Annie tries to be a peacemaker but she is stressed to the point of pulling her fur out. Yet, occasionally, the males will play for long periods for a day and then chase around the next day. Kiyomasa much like Gentaro, needs his own troop.
