The food prepared outdoors is sometimes the first one to get it, or MOMOTARO monopolizes it. In order to ensure that the food is equally distributed, the zookeepers at the Kyoto City Zoo feed each family in a separate room for dinner.
When all family members have eaten enough, they are allowed to gather in the same room together.

His father died before he was born, and he had never spent time with a silverback.

MOMTARO's father is BIJU.

She is 14 years older than Momotaro and has a role to support the whole family mentally.
She has had a tumultuous and eventful life.
She has returned to her birthplace, Kyoto City Zoo.
She had never been blessed with a baby but after meeting Momotaro,
she had two sons.
She is a very maternal female gorilla.
GENKI's father is MAC.
GENKI's mother is HIROMI.
First son GENTARO, male (2011/12/21)
He was separated from his mother Genki soon after he was born.
Genki's milk production was not very good.
He was raised by his keeper for his first10 months.
Because of this, he is very fond of humans.
His face is so expressive, and everyone enjoys watching him.
Second son KINTARO ♂ (2018/12/19)
He is just very strong-willed and independent.
He has big eyes and long eyebrows.
The way he plays a lot with his brother Gentaro is
makes everyone smile.

As I explain, Momotaro's turn is first. So they firstly open a room for him followed by the rest of the family. In the end they gather around in a room to sleep together. Gentaro is a Black back. Silverback Gorillas get their “silver back” around the age of 9. Their crown on the top of their forms around 7 or 8 , Gentaro would’ve gotten that already. He’s 11 years old fixin to be 12. He will always be a black back in the silverback gorilla group.

Kintaro eats the treats out of the strawberry kong before eating his broccoli. I think the separate rooms is a great idea. It takes some of the stress away, because Genki and Gentaro don't have to worry about Momotaro's food aggression.

@@archiesmum8601 True. He doesn't want to eat alone. Thankfully, Kintaro can visit. And, it's only during dinner time, then all the doors open. Plus, being by himself allows the keepers to have access to just Gentaro, in case they need to check him for any medical reason.

Keep in mind, my dear that the gate is open, not the door that shuts the rooms apart but the gate so they can see each other talk to each other, and Kintaro moves in and out and plays with Gentaro so he’s not lonely 👍🦍

La réorganisation des repas à l'intérieur est une très bonne idée surtout pour Genki qui pourra bénéficier d'une nourriture beaucoup plus adaptée à sa mauvaise dentition en ayant des légumes plus tendres genre choux chinois qu'elle adore, elle pourra manger sans stress et en abondance. Par contre à l'extérieur, c'est une autre histoire... cette pauvre petite maman est obligée de se contenter de sucer de grosses boules d'herbe pendant des heures pour pouvoir plus ou moins se nourrir, ce qui doit certainement la fatiguer et forcément quand elle rentre pour le dîner, elle est complètement affamée. Ce serait bien si les gardiens pouvaient trouver une solution pour la distribution des repas à l'extérieur parce que la compétition ne peut amener que violence et agressions. Merci aux gardiens pour le travail que vous effectuez en vue d'améliorer le bien-être de ces magnifiques gorilles.

I think this is a great way to feed them. Now each member of the troop gets their fair share of any treats that are given. I feel bad when I see Gentaro and Kintaro staring at a tasty new treat the zookeeper have given them but won't touch it bc they're afraid of Momo or Genki will snatch the treat from Kimtaro...Not to say it's all their fault bc that's just their nature kicking in. Separate rooms will solve this problem and I love that Kintaro can still go from room to room ❤❤❤

I hope Genki can get her own space after Kintaro's fully outgrows breastfeeding. Kintaro's pretty much outgrown needing his mother's milk or help eating. Momma Genki deserves a peaceful moment to eat without worry about her food getting taken by Kintaro or being attacked by Gentaro or Momotaro.

No one attacks Genki for her food. If anything she’s the one that does the attacking to steal the food. I do understand that Momo is the ringleader and deserves his food first, I guess, but Genki doesn’t need peace. She is a nervous wreck when she’s alone, shakes and everything. Well, they feed these gorillas four times a day. Breakfast is a substantial amount and then lunch is snacks and stuff that they can nibble on until dinner and that is when they put them in the house and the separate rooms.

Mono’s food aggression is normal for a silverback. You talk like it is unusual. I saw a birthday party for a 1 yr old gorilla. A whole board was made of colored peppers and large heads of lettuce . The silverback ate just about the whole thing. The rest got leftovers. As it is in the wild. These people treat the situation as something unusual.

I know this sounds mean, but sometimes it makes me sick to watch Genki eat because she’s such a pig But I love her she’s a mother gorilla at least she doesn’t eat her poop like other female, gorillas at other zoos I certainly would not be watching these gorillas if they ate their poop that’s when I turn it off

I"m glad to see this. I was hoping this would be the case. I adore this Gorilla family. Genki can have more of the goodies in peace. They can eat without having their food literally taken from them. I am fond of Momotaro, but he is extremely possessive of the food and a bit aggressive at times, especially to Genki. Why is that?
