I have a Manta for writing (upgrade from A5X) and a Note Max for reading and annotating PDF’s. So far (2 weeks) it’s a perfect combination for me.
@KitBetts-Masters2 күн бұрын
@@TomRichards-y8e I think those are the two tablets to go with at the moment I think!
@nanabai329Күн бұрын
This combination is what I am going for as well. Do you find the note max screen fragile? I am still holding off for more reviews due to durability concerns with the glass carta screen at such a large screen which is do need for academic pdf reading.
@TomRichards-y8eКүн бұрын
@ it doesn’t seem fragile but I guess time will tell. I will be careful. I use it for Kindle books and newspaper apps WSJ, NYT, The Times and Press Reader. PDF’s on the large screen are great.

Out of curiosity, why a Note Max for annotating PDFs over an iPad? e-ink for reading the content?

You can swap around the erase and lasso gestures by going to System -> Display & Input -> Gestures -> Eraser & Lasso Preferences. I, like you, am absolutely loving the writing feel of my Manta. I’m journaling in it every day and using it for work as well.

I love all reviews done by Kit but I have a feeling that you recommend every day different device and I am a little lost in this. One day Manta is the best. Yesterday Onyx4C was the best. Some time ago Must Have was onyx boox tab 10.3. Tomorrow something else will be the best. Everytime I see affiliate links to promoted devices.

i agree. i’m not blaming anyone, but i got convinced by his nomad review. so i bought one. it felt like writing on glass, not on paper. writing on scribe was way better for me. so lesson learned for me: treat reviews with a grain of salt.

In what ways is it better than remarkable 2 what would I benefit getting one
@lavievagabondeКүн бұрын
The note organizing features are so much better. I like my RMPP but I love my Supernote Manta. I can create table of contents for my notebooks, can use headings, links and tags (more usable than with remarkable), I have handwriting search …. And the reading options are also much better. There is a digest feature which exports all annotations and highlights you made in a book as a pdf if you wish. I love it. :)

Hey kit, can you try applying the feelwrite2 screen film over other eink tablets to see whether that improves the writing feel on other tablets?
@KitBetts-Masters22 сағат бұрын
Hey buddy, check out Vladimir Kosteck's channel, he tried this on his remarkable 2. 🙂

Noob question here: if you annotate a pdf with the supernote, are these recognised by other pdf editors? I understand that is not the case with the remarkable or the kindle scribe for instance, ie you cannot extract text highlighted in the pdf. Wondered therefore if that's different with rhe supernote but could not find any answers online.

Thanks for the great review! Question for you, if I may...do any of the brushes support pressure sensitivity so that lines made with lighter pressure appear lighter, or does the pressure only affect line width?

Great writing feel with a device that doesn't do what you want/need is a pretty empty feature.

Hi Manta guys - how you manage without backlight? This is only one reason for me to postpone decision..
@lavievagabondeКүн бұрын
I have a small clip on light from Amazon :) look for one that also has different color temperatures. In bed I always use the warm/kinda orange option, it’s super nice. I thought I would hate it but I actually like it more than a glowing screen.

The question is "Is there a e-ink tablet with a good screen (1300 etc), backlight, kindle app, good battery life and a nice write feel?". Supernote has no backlight, boox is solala on write feel and battery life is also mediocre (I think), remarkable has no kindle. Am I missing something?

Can anyone comment on the performance of Readwise? If it works well, then I’d seriously consider getting this over Boox.
@purplecowidealКүн бұрын
The benefits of the boox 4 and 3 c to me easily overcome the writing “feel” of the manta. Manta is very limited in use cases unless your use case is simply to write. 😢 soon there will be a new “best writing tablet” haha😅

Isn't it? One product, a million videos...it is so sad and so desperate.
@Hart-en-ZielКүн бұрын
Although I used to like your reviews and videos, imho it's becoming fairly annoying that you keep reposting snippets of your older videos as new ones. Personally, I don't feel the need to revisit old content, stuffed and shuffled in (as?) a new video. You lost one subscriber due to this. To be frank, you don't need this, just don't.

I have owned two prominent eink devices. A Boox Note Air 3c and a Supernote A5X2 Manta. Hands down, for writing experience and work flow the Supernote is way ahead of the Boox. Way ahead. The writing feel of the Boox is like writing on a dry erase board. (Terrible, IMHO.) Writing on the Supernote Manta is like writing with a gel pen on Clairefontaine paper. Not exactly, but close. The workflow on the Boox was awful and an afterthought. With the Supernote, it just makes sense. The Boox is an eink attempt at a tablet. The Supernote is an eink paper notebook replacement. I returned the Boox within a week. It's a toy and nothing more, IMHO. The Supernote is an excellent notebook. I need it to also be an outstanding transcription device. It does that with an exceptionally easy process for even many many pages of handwritten text. But, while the process is great, the tech is just not there yet. I'm a writer, and that's what i bought it for. I may also return the Supernote. So. My recommendation. If you need (want) an eink device to replace a paper notebook, Supernote Manta (or Nonad) is the best device on the market and wins by a wide margin. Good luck out there folks! P.S. The Manta is a decent reader. I sideloaded Libby and Pocket. They work just great.

How about lack of backlight?
@t0dd000Күн бұрын
@@gwazowicz I thought I would hate that. I didn't. Plus … a backlight can't make up for crap workflow and an even worse writing experience. Note, I'm speaking as a writer, not a short note taker and tablet user. The Boox doesn't do notetaking and management as well as the Supernote, but it's serviceable. But for copious writing, linking, and organization, Supernote is clearly superior. And the writing feel is so much better. But if you want to run tablet like stuff … the Supernote isn't for that. It's relatively easy to sideload apps on the Supernote, but that's not what it excels at except for reading applications and maybe some writing applications (I didn't try those). And you can listen to whatever via Bluetooth headphones. Summary: If you want an eink iPad or Android tablet … Boox. If you want a notebook, organizer, and longform writing platform … Supernote. It lives up to the marketing slogan.
