I guess next Ike Turner is dead and can't play that bit anymore. How tf could anyone dislike Gorillaz live?! Especially if they say they're a massive fan of their albums. I won't claim one is better than the other; I listen to the studio/album versions of Gorillaz songs if my mood & vibe call for those nice, cleaned up, well-polished, & fully-realized pieces of music; and I listen to various live/in-concert versions of Gorillaz songs if my mood & vibe call for the much more improvisational, on-the-fly, & highly unique type of music that you get with any band/musician's live performances, where each performance of the song is done in one take, and they're all performed one after the other. It creates a whole different vibe than you get with studio albums because you have them in the heat of the moment, really immersed in the passion of making music - which is why concerts are often at their best during the middle section, when the musicians and the audience are all on the same wavelength and have really gotten into their groove. And the fact that in a concert setting, you can't stop and start over or change little bits & pieces in the middle and add or change parts and so on, you have to play the song from start to finish in one go and then move on to the next song and do the same. Which can often directly lead to some of the best versions of those songs. Like listen to the album version of _Every Planet We Reach Is Dead_ and then the version from this show. They're practically two different songs. And listen to the album version of _Up On Melancholy Hill_ versus this show's version. Because they're playing it at sort of the peak of this concert, when everyone is just high as fuck on playing music and listening to music and is just VIBING, this version winds up being SO much more emotional and passionate. Thats basically why Damon had to go on that mini-tangent to the crowd immediately after finishing the song. He was overcome with emotion and *T H E V I B E S* that he had to vent some of it out, lest he pop like some kind of melodic bubble. Which admittedly would have probably been the most memorable conclusion to a concert and musical career in the history of concerts, careers, music, memories, and history.
