One would think a Gorillaz fan would have a mind open enough to realize how pointless & artistically stifling it would be for them to just keep rehashing Demon Days over and over and over and over again instead of exploring new horizons, which is literally the whole reason why Damon wanted to create Gorillaz in the first place. If they just placated to the narrow-minded "fans" who get mad when they don't get more of what's familiar and the same as what they're used to, then Plastic Beach & The Fall never would have been created, they would never have reformed in 2015 and we wouldn't be able to enjoy the world tours they've been conducting on nearly a yearly basis - in 2017, 2018, 2020, 2021, 2022, & 2023; with 2019 being the ONLY year since 2016 in which Gorillaz didn't perform live even one time and did not release new content. We wouldn't have gotten songs like "Let Me Out" or experienced the hedonistic bliss that is their live performances of "Sex Murder Party" (whose energy and vibe weirdly doesn't seem to come across in the album/studio version, only in live versions) or felt all the feels that Humility & Idaho & Magic City & Fireflies & Souk Eye inflict or been saved from the agony of the global lockdown quarantine of 2020 VT Song Machine Season One: Strange Timez which brought us a new Gorillaz song and music video in 9 of the 12 months of 2020 plus an album with even more songs in October and 3 livestreamed concerts in December (and songs like Momentary Bliss, Désolé, The Lost Chord, Dead Butterflies, Aries, Opium, With Love To An Ex, The Valley Of The Pagans, MLS, etc) or gotten the Meanwhile EP's 3-song tribute to The Notting Hill Carnival or songs from the latest album like Oil ft. Stevie Nicks and Cracker Island ft. Thundercat and New Gold ft. Tame Impala & Bootie Brown and Controllah ft. MC Bin Laden and Crocadillaz ft. De La Soul & Dawn Penn and Captain Chicken ft. Del Tha Funkee Homosapian and Skinny Ape and Tarantula and The Tired Influencer ft. Siri and Possession Island ft. Beck etc etc.
