I love the difference in the bars they end up going to and the troubles they are trying to drown away. 2D's is all physical with the pain of his injuries/migraines haunting him so he goes to an empty bar and only drinks to get rid of it, having no real choice since his pain is permanent. Thus the bartender looking menacing as he hands him the drink. But it works eventually and after a few 2D can enjoy himself even if his relief is short lived. Russel feels alienated by his possession and also maybe a bit marginalized (the movie on the table) since his condition is so unique and treated like a joke. But he wants to feel normal and goes to a casual bar where close friends would go to catch up. The drink is given to him as a sort of gesture of kindness by the bartender who seems worried by his sadness and, even if it won't help, they still try. Because that's all Russel can do; try. So, despite being hesitant, he drinks and drinks an impressive amount which give him a crowd of pseudo friends and makes him happy for the time being. Murdoc on the other hand *is* the problem. All of his issues are personal and completely under his control. Yet he still continues to act destructively regardless. He goes to a crowded bar where he disappears into the crowd, highlighting how unimportant he feels. Especially when he sees 2D getting all the credit/adoration for Gorillaz (Murdoc doesn't even get recognized). The bartender also ignores him unintentionally, because it is a crowded bar, but Murdoc also doesn't *need* to drink away his troubles. But he choses to do so because it is so normal to him. He can't even be happy till he is basically black out drunk where he doesn't even know who he is. Loved the video!

i wouldnt say he has no reason. depression can be just as debilitating as physical pain, coming from someone who has both chronic pain and depression lmao

Great analysis! I didn't even caught up that the three of them weren't in the same bar! Every metaphor with the crowd around them and the bartender attitude, it's unbelievable! I'm genuinely curious about your opinions on Noodle. Are the zombies she's fighting an analogy of the drunken crowd or maybe the sadness surrounding her and the boys? What do you think?
