I've still got my Necromunda & Battlefleet Gothic stuff. I've got some of the Gorkamorka terrain, but I traded off almost all of the minis & vehicles.

This comment is way too true. I never played manowar but would add warmaster and epic which were both incredible games. Also the tiny bases they gave you for the orcs to encourage you to try and Jenga them onto the back of your trucks! 😂

A game that was nothing but pure fun and creativity... ah, the old days where it was more about having a laugh than winning at any cost. Came out while I was working for GW and frankly everyone seemed to love the accessibility and focus on quick, dirty and often hilarious games... literally the first day our store staff team played the manager (our boss nob) got a critical head injury and ended up with a squig brain transplant, and it only got dafter with each passing week. We even had metal tags (janglies) to give to our campaign winners. The kids loved them. Wish I'd kept me janglies so I could get on Gorkamorka when it does its fing one day!

It was also a thing with the old Ork Battlewagon in RT and 2nd ed... Though that beast was long OOP by the time Gorkamorka arrived.

You forgot to mention the Red Gobbo! Awhile ago, I picked up a used baggie of grots for $20 and imagine my surprise that he was in it! I've been looking for him forever to start my Revolushun! I love the lore of the Diggas as well as their Necron protectors and all.

At the risk of sounding like a grognard neckbeard, Honestly I wish they had drawn more from Gorkamorka for the vehicle rules rather than what they ended up with. Seems mad to simplify the vehicles as much as they have when so many other aspects of Necromunda are so complex. 😢

I remember walking into a GW and asking their staff if they remember Necromunda, they didn't, so asked about Mordheim, nope. Gorkamorka? Yeah, I'm not buying anything if you know less than me about your own product! 😅

@wellywoodwargaming Thank you! It did me tbch, thought my hobby was dead. I think this was around the time they brought out a scout/ork type game with similar campaign elements "Shadow Wars Armageddon" iirc. Was funny how quickly that must have changed

@@BrummieRedneck I remember Shadow Wars Armageddon. Basically just a reskin of classic Necromunda, but with 40K factions. I'm convinced it was just a yardstick before they went into development of Kill Team and Necromunda 2nd Ed.

I still have this game, the models are part of my Ork army, with larger bases. I have the old rules and some of the older models from Necromunda and Mordhein. Glad I kept them. It wasn't long after this when I took a break from Games Workshop, roughly 2010 to 2018, due to the constant rule changes in 40K, making most of my armies half useless. I'm back now with Kill Team, I like the variety without having to spend a fortune to build new 40K armies.

My favourite little lore tidbit that Games Workshop has done was a report from an Imperial ship surveying the planet Gorkamorka was set on. It was called the Eternal Vigilance and they had a team on the planet looking into mysterious xeno structures (I don't think they ever specified that it was Necrons, but it was Necrons. Which was doubly fun because Necrons weren't introduced to 40k until the following year). However a small incident involving a space hulk caused all contact with the Eternal Vigilance and warp storms meant a rescue could not be sent. All of that is on like a single page and easily missable. However, when the expansion comes out what do we get. Well we get the Diggas, a group descended from humans who were protected from the space hulk's rampant radiation by sheltering under weird alien pyramids. Also Muties who descend from humans who survived in a ship that crashed around the same time as the space hulk. They weren't protected from the radiation and have therefore mutated and they call their home Etervigila.

One of the defining moments was my nob making a successful jump to the opposing truk then to every ones surprise put is big choppa away. He the proceeded to pull out a frag n crack stick bombs out and hit the opposing nob with them. My opposition said this couldn't be done. All his team said it couldn't be done. The GW staff confirmed it could be done and there was a risk they would go of. The frag detonated boys fell of their truck and perished. The crak detonated. It clipped the vehicle. The vehicle went "boom" two nobs flying through the air 1 wound left each. Both hit the ground wounding and killing the enemy nob. This was described as the most orkish moment ever witnessed. My truck was also lost in that fight but I can't remember how.

I love Gorkamorka, and my group still plays it (albeit a heavily modernized/updated version, but with classic vehicle rules). It's the best GW game ever!

When I think of Gormamorka I think of a great idea, welling with creative potential, executed very generically. Imagine if this game had come out after Mad Max: Fury Road, I think it might have been great. Unfortunately the rules just suggest the rushed designers just couldn't arrive a central principle to design the game around and it was very lacking. They should have created colorful ork gangs like they did with Necromunda, and they should have designed the main game mode to be a chase like in Fury Road and Mad Max 2. They just didn't know how to make those rules back then from a technical point of view.

The orks that came in the box were a travesty. Some of the absolute worst minaturs GW has ever made. The trukks were awesome, but im sorry, the orks were awful.

To be fair, at the time they were still selling the one-part Goff Orks from the 2nd edition boxed set - compared to them, Gorkamorka's sculpts were a real step up.
