a note from your resident biologist. NOT EVERYTHING requires monitoring for "cross contamination"...a spray bottle with a 50/50 vinegar/water solution and a drop or two of dish soap can do marvels, esp. if you can did it and leave it in the sun. There are also plenty of disinfectants or cleaners that are eco-friendly and are effective. A "de-con" bucket with this material and a way to rinse it over the items appears to be an effective choice over "constant running around.. (and take it from me, who did hazmat, "DECON" is no fun....but depending on what you are trying to prevent.....it can be easy. Also consider making a "gray zone"...where items that require decon can be set while one continues forward progress. i could be wrong, I probably AM, andI'm talking to my betters...however.....these are "tips from the field"

I found (not necessarily by choice) that the black doesn't run clean until about 10+ minutes of flush. Not using regulator seems to help. Allowed the black level to display E

Good job I have a tip for you. I always rinse off my gloves after the fills with soap and water then I put them away. That way anything that may have gotten on my gloves is washed away before putting my gloves away. Hope this helps you also. Love your videos. Hey Kyle. I miss Luke though. 😎

I do not connect my black tank flush hose to a fresh water faucet. I don't want to deposit any bad nasties there. I wait and connect my black tank flush hose at the dump station where there is frequently a water source there designated for that purpose. When we picked up our new travel trailer 3 years ago, the dealer had left the black tank valve open. When we were ready to dump our holding tanks, you can imagine what happened when I took the cap off to attach the hose. It was so ridiculously awful it was funny when all was said and done.

Yes Doug... always verify your waste tank valve are CLOSED prior to removing the sewer pipe cap! Thanks for sharing. Your experience is one I hope to never have.

Because the tank sensors aren’t cleaned well from the Santee flush. Which means I need to use my ice cleaning technique to scrub the inside of the tank and get the sensors cleaned off. Check out my video on the black tank cleaned with ice

🙋‍♀️ Challenges are fun❗️ I always have trouble with getting The black tank connected and unconnected at the black tank port. The special gripper that’s plastic it just keeps slipping off. Can’t get the leverage I need. I’ve tried oil and soap with a little luck. Of course it would be helpful if I had bigger stronger hands. Happy camper is an enzyme product. It has little Pac-Men in it and helps to keep your tank clean 🚐💨. Happy Holidays to you and Kyle and of course Luke 🐾🐻

Why would you need a pressure regulator to fill a tank? Isn’t the regulator for your plumbing when hooked to city water? If your just filling up a tank, why would need to protect the faucet fittings from pressure?

Great question Heath... going to answer that on this week's What's Up Wednesday?! #vanlife RV show on KZbin Live at 6PM Central Bottom line is while household pressure might be consistent, many campgrounds and RV parks have very inconsistent water pressure. I often find the water to extremely high (maybe because they have so many water spigots to supply?). The plumbing is sorta fragile on the RV, including the fresh tank fill and San-T-flush system. Using a pressure regulator at the at the source prevents blowouts and damage to plumbing.

I haven't rinsed my hose. Not sure why exactly. Just feels it is mostly clean through sanTflush and grey water. I shake and swirl the hose often during those activities.

LOL... yes a prop sewer hose. I got a new one for Xmas and that is what I showed. I have used the blue sewer since Nov 2018 with over 140 tank duties. Upgrading to a longer hose that still stows in the outside compartment.

Instead of reusable gloves, I get the heavy duty, black, nitrile gloves at harbor freight. It's not expensive for a box of 50. Use them once, dispose. Much less chance of cross contamination from storing dirty gloves.
