Tim Keller discusses the relationship between justification by faith, justice, and caring for the poor, arguing that the Christian Church often misunderstands these concepts, with some focusing solely on justification through faith while neglecting the importance of justice.
He moves on to discuss the relationship between justification, faith, and justice, arguing that true faith and justice are intrinsically linked, emphasizing the importance of caring for the poor as a way to demonstrate a relationship with God.
Recorded during the Christ+City post-conference at The Gospel Coalition's 2011 National Conference in Chicago.

I recently suffered a brain aneurism that put me in a coma for four weeks. When I regained consciousness, I was told that I said about my wife of 17 years, "I'm not sure who she is, but I think I like her a lot." (I have no recollection whatsoever that I said this!!!) The congregation that I was serving when I got sick hosted what was called a 'Celebration Service' that was filmed and posted onto KZbin. Run a search there for "Charles Frank Kurtz," and you'll find it. Then spread word that miracles STILL happen!!! The fact that you are hearing that from me might seem small, but to my wife and two children, it is exceptionally miraculous!!! Shalom!!!

Many people in our individualistic culture have turned worshipping God into only preferring parts of Bible they love and putting basis of their faith largely on personal experiences. Such is something that gnostic heretics of the early Church were doing which many in the church have adopted though very few people will say they're another religion. Just like the Sadduccees and Pharisees during the time of Jesus, they prefer only the judgemental aspect along with emphasis on purity or believe in a false Jesus that isn't even to be taken literally.

Nothing in this sermon should be controversial. I hate the politicization of church.

"Doing justice = taking care of the poor"? Tim Keller argues here to add "social" justice to the gospel, but has not much of a biblical bases. Biblical justice is much more than hand out to the poor, or higher taxes etc. Read 1 Timothy 5: 4-16 as an example. There it shows how difficult it is to qualify as a widow, even as a church member. So the Church is instructed to turn away most widows that are not qualified. This is just an example. If Keller wants to apply an Old Testament standard for justice, why is he not argueing for beheading abortion clinic doctors or the sexual diviant, and people that do not respect the sabbath rest for instance? Voddie Baucham Jr., who grew up in the "bad" neighborhood with a Budist single mom, expresses a clearer view of biblical justice. In his last book, Voddie Baucham, A Preacher, Professor, And Cultural Apologist, Explains The Sinister Worldview Behind The Social Justice Movement And Critical Race Theory-Revealing How It Already Has Infiltrated Some Seminaries, Leading To Internal Denominational Conflict, Canceled Careers, And Lost Livelihoods. Like A Fault Line, It Threatens American Culture In General-And The Evangelical Church In Particular.
