All I can say about Tim Keller after listening to several of his messages is that he is like « the best friend that I ever had, but never met. This man has one of the most relatable and relaxed approaches of articulating the deeper things of God and obtuse aspects of the gospel I’ve ever encountered. As someone who has considered themselves a Christian for more than 30 years, I feel I’m « born all over again « after listening to Tim. Now he is experiencing the fullness of knowing and being known by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Hallelujah

From him keller I’ve got some really strong friends who are strong Catholics, and they love the book, but I’m sure when they get to certain places they say, “Yeah, there we go . . . ” But they don’t mind it, because they’re really happy to have a book that’s basically defending the whole Faith. And if I was just running up the flag saying, “I’m a Protestant, I’m Reformed, I’m Presbyterian, I’m Reformed, not Arminian”-I don’t know. This is my best guess, my best guess at how I can model the unity of the Church

I was in my early 20's when I moved to NYC and I would sit and fall asleep to Dr. Keller's preaching on 79th and Broadway. (It was also sweltering hot with no a/c in the summer. they had 2 huge turbine fans on each end of the church that just circulated the hot air lol). Now that I am older (30s), I appreciate his teaching very much. The latter one's that his wife likes, of course. But this sermon is probably the best message I've heard in several months. Very relevant to today's church. Thanks be to God for you Brother Tim! (I kinda wish you also did a "Ask Pastor John" like Piper. "Ask Pastor Tim" would be awesome!)

Tim best explains the weight of the Gospel and how it ties into everything else. So often I hear how the believer should do this and that, but keller is good at bringing everything back to the gospel. I think he is right. We need to always stare into the great truth of Jesus and what he did for us.

Can someone please help me to find this quote of Martin Luther? Or is this just a paraphrase? "The first commandment is you've got to believe the gospel, and you can't look to anything else for your justification, and that is the basis for all the other sins and things that happen to go wrong in your life."

A Catholic priest has also said keller is so found of their teaching he would keep asking for more of it. I have stories from Catholic praising him of how wonderful it was to still be Catholic. The protestant church dont know this cause it was direct to the catholics. Tim keller heavily borrow teaching from catholism and is trying to get the reform church to embrace it. 😢😢

Excerpts from OP: “All other religions give advice, and they drive everything you're doing on fear. When you hear the gospel, when you hear a message, that it's all been done for you, it's a historical event that's happened. Your salvation has been accomplished for you.” “You don't convert yourself. You're converted, something happens to you. Through faith, you're born again. You are confronted with your sin against the jealous and holy God, and you see the provision now.” “He lived the life you should have lived and died the death you should have died, that not only were my sins put upon him, but his perfect righteousness and record was put on me. So, there's no condemnation. There can't be a condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”

@@thegospelcoalition but how can you know the gospel when you stand with the pope and drink from catholic theology?? Will you listen to an ex catholic priest that warns to stay away from these things. Tim keller should listen to this and stop misleading the church.😔😞 Tim keller had a catholic series in his church called way of the monk and to this date he is very proud in his catholic views and wanting it to united with the protestant church.Gospel coliation if you are for the reak gospel how can you allow this to happen???

@@Sherlock245 I am also a former catholic. I've listened to a couple of sermons from Tim Keller, I found nothing that made me want to become a catholic again. On the contrary.

@@Sherlock245 Tim Keller focuses on the gospel, not on morality or the law. This is what catholics do. The gospel is not about becoming more and more exclusive. I still have not heard a sermon in which Tim Keller hails Catholicism. He focuses on Jesus and the gospel. But then again: even Luther of Spurgeon have been branded as being too soft and compromising by many of their christian contemporaries.
