Wow... I remember thinking to myself and telling my wife either the devil was coming for me or God was calling me. I'm glad it was the God calling me.. this Christian walk has not been easy but I wouldn't turn back or change anything about it. I LOVE YOU JESUS CHRIST.

Timothy Keller is one of the only preachers I know who has a complete grasp of God's mercy and justice as illustrated in the sermon on the mount. Most other "Christians" lose sight of the cross and put the focus on themselves and their performance, ruining other people's faith, making them doubt their salvation and the love of God through their grandstanding. Stay away from these people. The Gosepl in Life series will change your life as it has mine.

Once again, Rev. Timothy Keller hits the truth, deep. This sermon is quite old from 1995 but still relevant to the modern world. Christians and atheists believe we are better and judging, religious, thinking we deserve better. We try to do better and we try hard. We ask for more and more blessings. All churches do. We need this. Mercy. What this is.

This was a soul-quaking sermon. Deep gratitude for God's brilliance, as reflected by Tim. I take issue with his closing call to find and shoot the pharisee in us, though. I feel called to apply mercy and understanding with my inner Pharisees. Wishing you well, dear reader.

I highly recommend using a concordance, such as Strong's, to determine the specific GREEK word used in a verse. Not all words translated as "called" come from the same Greek word. Same with "chosen". It is well worth the effort. Reading every verse in which a specific Greek word is used enhances understanding of what that word really means.
@SlvrChkn2 жыл бұрын
@@itsjkforreal Please do. I dont believe the scriptures support this at all and is very much heretical. But I’m willing to look at what verses people are referencing and then do research within context. Thank you!

I have felt I’ve been squished my whole life. I thought there was something wrong with me, because I feel so thirsty. Give me more Lord. Not stuff, but I want you in me. I want to be free. But I’m so weak and the more I study scripture the more questions I have. And I’m scared to reach out to others. I force myself to do it, but I don’t see a lot of successes. I heard someone say that doing what Jesus asks us does not always looks like success. 30 years of teaching in elementary public school, my administrators are making me teach middle school, hoping I will retire early. My last year has been spent being hated by my students. Should I give up? I feel like I’ve been given more than I can handle. I don’t see that I helped any of my anxiety ridden students. Before this I felt called to youth ministry. What am I going to learn from this?

May the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us, in all our troubles, be with you in your time of need. I would recommend watching his (this channel) video “still small voice”, it just came out. I literally just watched that video ( it’s actually my first time hearing a sermon from him. ) It was a true blessing for me, I hope it’s a blessing for you too. I relate to you in various ways. You say that the more you study scripture the more questions you have. I have been dealing with the same exact thing. In fact I was crying out to God just yesterday. After that.. I started meditating on all the things the Lord has done for me and all the things he has brought me out of. The Holy Spirit reminded me of the faithful of God towards me. It brought me hope again. Another thing that has helped me is bringing my thoughts captive to the obedience of Christ. Sometimes I find myself thinking so negatively about my situation but then I remember verses like “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11 and it puts a stop to my restless thoughts. Rhonda, keep putting your trust in the Lord. Remember that The Holy Spirit will lead and guide you into all truth, surely He will not forsake you. I leave you with this: “Consider it pure joy, my brothers, when you encounter trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Allow perseverance to finish its work, so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But he must ask in faith, without doubting, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. He is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.” James 1:2-8 May the Lord our God bring peace onto your heart. Stand firm sister! Much love ❤️

"These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God." (1Jn 5:13) Believe in the Lord Jesus, look at the Cross, He paid the price You deserve. Rom 3:10-11,23-24: "There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. … For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:"

You have it so hopelessly wrong. We are not saved by grace alone , if we were then we would not have the free will to choose God. We stumble,we sin,we forgive,we repent,we chose to be baptised with holy oil and water,we chose to be born again, we chose to give to the needy , you don't understand God needed us to love him and without free will we cannot choose. Free will is our 1st step towards God and God's salvation is his grace poured out on us.

“Hopelessly wrong?” Are sure that is the words you want to use? So there are millions of believers in Christ and theologians throughout history. That would disagree with you, and they’re all hopeless without agreeing with your opinion? Your thoughts give hope to the world just to clarify? I think you need to humble yourself a bit and rethink some of your rationale. There is free will we do choose we have the ability to choose freely or reject him freely. But the initiation of that is clearly stated in the Bible. We love because he loved us first. He tells us that he was ready to be sought by those who did not ask for him. Dead people don’t choose to be born again. You didn’t use the born the first time. Where you have to understand, the middle ground is that we have the free choice to receive his choosing of us or freely reject it, but he initiates. Read the book, middle knowledge by Dr. John Lang This can help with that delicate balance of both choosing by Freewill, as well as his divine election

Awesome sermon but a pharise is not a synonym for hypocrisy aka religiosity sir, It's a school of Jewishish thought. Yashua and Saul were both pharisees aswell . Also it's insulting for israslities who listen to ex pagans fallowing The Jewish religion and Messiah to utter such antisemitism . It would be nice to refer to hypocrisy as hypocrisy instead of demonising a nation or school of Jewish thought that your actually following by adhering to the new testament 😅
@annabelle7123 Жыл бұрын
I think we all know that Jesus and Saul were Jewish people. He is using Pharisee as the symbol for hypocrisy as it is in the Bible of that ancient time. Jesus criticized them as serpents.
@nickvoutsas51442 жыл бұрын
Religion by definition is the belief in God , if we were to give a clearer definition of religion from a Christian perspective it would encompass the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Unfortunately New age Christian churches have vandalised the meaning and have used the word religion as a synonym for one who is devoid of the gifts of the Holy Spirit dogmatically following rituals. Not only has this myopic view allowed modern Christian's to condemn traditional Christian churches but has resulted in a tearing down of the holy sacraments passed down through tradition. Imagine if the sacrament of receiving Holy Communion lost it's value ? The Holy sacrament of marriage has already been lost de voiding of any meaning. Before the books of the New Testament Christianity was based purely on the word passes down through tradition. In fact your Bible is based on the early father's of so called the traditional church who selected the books of your bible.

There are some good books about how the bible came to us. One striking thing i found in The Case for God (Strobel) is the idea that people had a set of writings they treasured as eyewitness reports of the Lord; they were deep into these writings. Later some formal "church" groups came and 'ratified' those writings. Religion comes from the latin word for discipline. Is Buddhism not a discipline?
