Someone buys a keyboard based on your review.. then they get home and it doesn't sound good because it's not you playing. lol

You've got so much fun playing the MoX. You made me smile. It's a great demo and I think you have only scratched the surface of the keyboard. I didn't hear a weak sound, and there are so many others to choose from.

Thank you. I was going to buy the Roland Fantom G6, but for the price, I can't beat this Yamaha. This will be my first workstation. Wish me luck. Blessings, Tim

@mirkuskus The EP's are new in the MOX and Motif XS. You can't get them in your ES. The best you can do is purchase our Neo-Soul Rhodes for the Motif, but all of the tines and DX sounds are just for the XS and MOX.

When u do the breakdown at 9:34 I love the way you let that last note hang just before you said "nice....very nice" wish you would had let it go a little longer. at 9:50 the ending sounded just as beautiful. Last but not least, when u puton the strings, love the kaleidescope of chords you took me through....very colorful!!!!

Hi man, nice review ! I myself am for years a Roland and Korg user (nowadays Fantom X and Triton to be more concrete) . I really liked also how you talked about Roland and Korg users comparing to Yamaha. Haha, I am one of them and guess what: a while ago I also took time and tried the MOX6 in the store and soon it is gonna be my next keys !!! A very good addition (soundwise ) to my setup and a great workstation / good compatible with DAW !!!

@spicyhot231 Not sure about the knobs question, but the MOX is a good upgrade over the ES. But remember, your ES can load samples and sample and the MOX can't. Just look at the MOX as a good sound source. It's not that much of an upgrade to the ES, but way more sounds and better sound quality.

I just purchased the Yamaha MOX8 last night and it sounds great. The keys are definitely better than on the MOX6. I have owned the ES8 and XS8 as well and the keys seem to be the same. The casing itself seems a little plastic but for the price you can't beat it. Especially for the quality of sound.

To the guy playing this MOX. You're a great player and I couldn't aggree more about the warm, fat sound. Finally ditched my Roland and I couldn't be happier. But I'm a novice on a synthesizer and when you say "the architecture on the MOX makes it really easy to do things" I freak out. NOT FOR ME. Anything is easy once you know how to do it and the basics os a synth. How can I learn this instrument other than the usual-read the manual, watch the video, go to the Motifactor.Any ideas? Thanks.

@so5p I'm not sure where you're from or your experience with God and the Lord, but we believe in giving God the BEST. Not some second hand used stuff. You can go to a concert and see thousands of dollars worth of equipment and people giving their best, why wouldn't someone want to GIVE THEIR BEST to the Lord in which they serve?
@tbraun8410 жыл бұрын
I agree 100% with what you have said about Yamaha and Korg. I use korg for all of the digital synth work, and stick with MOTIF for just about everything else. (on a side note I don't know why all of the major companies have to name their pianos with similar sounding names!). Organs, are very much a touchy subject that I won't even get into... except that a tube-amplified Leslie cabinet will really make the most difference there.

Definely I'm going to purchase this little babe. Even if is my 1st keyboard though, 'cause I'm considering to produce some music and record it in GarageBand and Logic Pro all connected with the Apogee Duet 2 of course. Btw I've always wanted to have a keyboard like this cause even if I'm more in filmaking - photography thing, I also love music. Thanks for this awesome demonstration! :)

do you think that movin up from a cheap keyboard to something such as the mox6/mox8 can make you better?
@dvamateur10 жыл бұрын
The last Korg keyboard I'd ever consider would be M1 or T3. The reason being is that I find color touch screens highly inapropriate (distracting) for a musical instrument. Thanks goodness we have at least one company left which still makes real instruments, and that's the company featured in this video. It's a shame though, becuase both Korg and Roland made very fine musical instruments in the late '80s and early '90s.

13:11 is sweeet. When he says straight digital, it's still analog to the speakers though right?
@RichBrand13 жыл бұрын
It sounds better than the ES because the sound engine in the MOX6/8 keyboards is the same as the Motif XS, so you're basically getting the XS sounds for a MO6/8 price, since most places are still selling both and only a price difference of $100-200.
@AllenTSmith10 жыл бұрын
I don't know....I had the Motif ES and then the XS going back several years. But then I heard the Kronos and all of those engines and models that you can tweak like mad and that I could drop my entire sample library right on the SSD. I sold the XS in part to buy the Kronos. I haven't missed the Motif at all. Also, I can setup graphically everything I'm going to do in worship on just one screen and at just a touch of the screen, things like sounds, backing tracks and sequences start seamlessly. I thought I would miss certain Motif sounds. But I found similar and in many cases better on the Kronos. Yeah Korg had been king of the pads and synth sounds, but the Kronos is so vast that I can load a Motif sample library inside of it. I thought I would, but I have not missed the Motif sounds. I've had mine since March. I discover new things everytime I work with it. Plus I play an EWIUSB. Since the Kronos is a computer it allows you to plug in USB complaint controllers so I get to play my EWI without a computer. I just plug it straight into the USB on the back. I really liked the Motif, but the Kronos is just on another level. The only thing is that I prefer the feel of my Yamaha digital piano and the damper pedal MIDI'd to the Kronos for pianos only. The Kronos 61 keybed is fine for all else. Yamaha is going to have to step it up to get me back. Also people in church who don't know keyboards said I sounded better since I bought the Kronos. They didn't know I switched from the XS6 to the Kronos. But great review on the Mox6
@dunc19596 жыл бұрын
I just bought the limited edition gold Kronos and have to say it's one heck of a machine I have had it a week a barely scratched the service I also have a Montage 6 great keyboard to but the Korg does outshine it a little especially with the piano sounds great keyboard.
@GospelMusicians13 жыл бұрын
@elite1keys Changing keyboards won't make you a better piano player. Practicing on what you have will make you better. No use in having a super keyboard with no practice time. The guys that are the best keyboard players, don't have the newest updated keyboards.
@jxsbebop13 жыл бұрын
@spicyhot231, I tested this out the other day and from what I can tell (as I don't own one), there's one knob for volume and the other knobs cannot be used for volume (as it is right now). With regards to replacing the your ES8 with a MoX, you need to evaluate what is it that you use on the ES8 and what is most important to you. If you're looking at it strictly from a sound engine perspective the MoX has the newer sound engine compared to the ES.
@LaMusicadelMaster11 жыл бұрын
mmmm... well in sound factory it sounds good, it has more sounds than the MO, but i have to say that MOX missed the faders, it helps a lot, they change the transpose buttons far away from the pitch. but it has more cooler stuff that the MO(i have one), easier to plug to a computer, MO doesn´t have inputs. but I love my MO6 for stage it´s awesome to control and it has beautiful piano, EP, and strings sounds.
@J._Campbell13 жыл бұрын
Man, your playing is GREAT!!! Very beautiful and technical!!! The synth is also AMAZING! It's my dream) I have MM6. It's also very nice machine for it's money. But MOX6 is legend) Don't you know, what synth will come on replacement Yamaha MM6? Thank you!!!

The "big MOTIFs" (for lack of a better term, as opposed to the M-series MOTIFs) have much more realistic action. The action on those is actually a bit stiffer or heavier than a lot of other weighted action stage-pianos/synths. For that reason I think it's an especially good fit for someone who is primarily an acoustic piano player.

The MOX has the same sounds as the XS, not the XF. With that said the XF has all of the sounds the XS has. I don't know the name of that piano sound, but it is in your XF, but it will sound wayyy wayy different. The filters on the XF and XS make the same sounds, sound completely different.

Nice review. Always wanted the original motif. Heard they are great controllers. I had that axiom 61 pro up there but had an "oops" so I was lookin' into maybe a motif as a controller. Oh and I know it's not the reviewers studio but the monitors should be pointed at your ears, and you def need some sort of acoustic treatment in that room...

Funny how you mentioned Yamaha keyboards being "warmer" and "fatter" sounding? Now I love Yamaha gear, heck I have run a Yamaha web site for the past ten years but, I find Roland and to some extent Korg to have much warmer pianos and thicker analogue sounding synth pads. I exhanged my MOX for a Roland Juno Gi and am very glad I did. To my ears it sounds a lot richer. Just goes to show how we all hear things differently :)

@pianoman2781 You should listen to the organ and EP sounds on the Kurzweils too. Any shortcomings on your current keyboard can achieved with soft synths so don't fret too much on your buying decisions. Sample memory and cpu power is mega times more on a PC versus any keyboard workstation, all you have to do is find the perfect soft synth(s) to get the sounds you want.

I bought a Yamaha Motif XF8 , but now wish i had bought a 7 because of the Heavy weight of mine MOTIF XF 8 this thing is like 60 lbs heavy heavy for me, got back problems from a 4 wheeler wreck, so taking it around gigs is hard for me, I have a NIce Professional Built Case for it with wheels that was made for the MOTIF XF line. but still do enjoy the Weighted Keys and all but I think i will buy me a XF 7 to go along with the 8 keep 8 in studio take 7 on the road.

I just bought the MOX6 as my first keyboard/synthesizer workstation as I plan to move towards composing and producing music. I am really loving the sounds and freedom, but coming from classical/pop piano background with zero experience towards keyboarding/cubase software, I am totally overwhelmed by the amount of features! Definitely industrial professional standard keyboard! Maybe a little too much for me as a first keyboard.. Owners manual isn't helping much. Are there any help guides online?

I just received delivery of a MOX-88, $1,500.00 and was immediately disappointed that it has NO ACCOMPANYMENT mode. I HATE PLAYING ALONE, AND WANT BACKUP WHEN CREATING. I suppose I'm a die hard PSR guy at heart, however, the sound quality is amazing as always expected from YAMMAHA, but not having accompaniment mode, leaves Me pretty lonely ! I may trade for a roland fantom G-7, but only if It keeps Me company ! :)
