Some GM cars have corrosion issues in wire connectors that will alter the resistance readings in temp sensors, making the car think the cat is not warming up properly in comparison with these sensors, faulting the cat and setting a cat code when it's not the cat.

We have a honda 3.5 that took out the rings on the rear bank because of the CAT, should we rebuild or replace with a short/long block? This happened after a T belt replacement, could a misadjusted belt cause too much overlap leading to this phenomenon?

2002-06 Nissan Altimas have this exact same issue. PreCats break up and causes engine to burn oil.

Happens a lot with aftermarket "high flow" cats. Steer clear away from them if you live in a warm climate.

The cat code will come on a time before the cat stop working. The cat breaking up and being sucked back into the engine is pushing it..

I think on manual transmission,when you use the engine as a brake, going down the mountains, you essentially create a vacuum in the engine and when the exhaust valve opens, it can suck the ceramic dust in....I wish the guy in video be more explicit about "Certain conditions", rather then using scare tactics to leave consumer dumb....
