dread true The Gossip were Post Punk in the early days of the band with 2001 and 2003 releases, when I discovered them. Can you imagine that powerhouse voice on top of a harder-edged sound? Few people knew who they were until 2006s Standing in the Way of Control when they added more synth driven dance to their angular, guitar-heavy sound. I loved both iterations of the band, as I was in love with Beth’s voice and knew she could bring depth and dimension to any genre. You should hear her cover of Aaliyah’s _Are You that Somebody,_ from their 2006 EP GSSP RMX or Wham’s _Careless Whisper._

Beth Ditto is an amazing artist and her acclaim is well deserved. It's sad that people are so stuck in a 90's heroin-chic normative experience to the point that they think it is ok to publicly shame someone and say hurtful things. By the way, she is not here trying to be a model. She is a musician, and she should be judged on her music, not whether or not she fits into your concept of what is beautiful. If you hate fat people or intensely dislike her, why are you watching her videos? I think she's fantastic (solo as well as with Gossip). She has an amazing sense of style, her hair and makeup are always on point, and her voice has such a clear, amazing tone to it. It is critics like those below that cause people to hate themselves and do harmful things and there is absolutely NOTHING cool about that.

Before that take a look at what American men liked. The Bombshell (which gets the name from the shape of a military BOMB shell). Marilyn Monroe(5'5 35-23-36), Jayne Mansfield(5'6 40-21-36) Marlene Dietrich(5'5 35-24-33); Brigitte Bardot(French btw) was 5'7 35-23-35 at the height of her fame and was one Europes primer models. Then along came Twiggy 5'6 32-23-32 and ushered in the thin is in culture that had more girls starving themselves(I'm sure there were some before but it became an epidemic) and "plus size" women left looking for clothes that complemented them. Brigette would be considered "Plus size" now. But you see, American Black men(can't speak for those over there) tend to like our women real. Even if that means a little extra here and there. Because at the end of the day, no one wants to cuddle up to a stick. So yes it is a European Ideal regardless if all Europeans perscribe to it or not.
